^ oily residue is normal. Anything more than that is not. Make sure your oil level is not too high. It should only cover the lower part of your dipstick. Clean the oil and monitor.
You can always remove small amount of oil from the turbo sump and case if your oil level is high.

Will check the oil level next time I am driving the car around. Sounds like the procedure is to bring the car up to temp by driving 15-20 min, park car on level surface, and then check oil level with dipstick while the car is running. Oil should be more towards the lower level versus upper level correct?

Mods:
1. Replace cats with Fabspeed or FVD 200 cell.
2. Muffler - Fister or Fabspeed bypass. Fister is not as "barky" and both sounds great.
3. Update shifter with Golden Rod from FD Motorsports.
4. You can replace clock with a analogue boost gauge like below by sending it to WSM in Germany. I have spare clocks if you want to keep your stock clock.
Enjoy the car. Nothing else is really needed.

Also, how is your suspension?
I don't think you are going to find much of a difference in sound between FVD or Fabspeed 200 cell Cats. These cars are the last of the Turbos that makes a decent sound with an exhaust mod. Later water cooled cars are more difficult. They all sound similar to this.
I would also budget Golden Rod as parts on your car is getting close to 20yrs old. After these mods, then consider other mods.
Here is a clip of the analogue boost gauge in action. Starts at 1:14. This GT2 may have straight pipes or 100 cell Cats.
I like that you can monitor for leaks in both vacuum and boost but it is not a requirement since you have found 0.8 boost for now. Just enjoy in getting to known your car. A manual boost gauge will run you about USD$7-800 (499 euro conversion cost plus clock part $170) for the part converted.

I have a similar issue with boost. I have an Autometer Sport-Comp Boost/Vac gauge. I can only get a max of 10 psi in 3rd and 4th gear. I should be getting 14-15psi. I have a Promotive Chip with modified K16 turbos with K24 compressor wheels done at TurboCraft. I will check the hoses per the discussion. My question is what is the normal vacuum at idle? Mine is running at about 12 ln.Hg. Is that normal or do I have a leak? Thanks!

Drifting
A qualified tech can also smoke test the plumbing, which will show any leaks
As others mentioned upgrade the old hoses before the let go.
A little oil carry over inside the boost hoses to the intercooler is normal
You may want to upgrade to installing check valves on the turbo oil feed inlets, check with Turbo Kraft or RUF in Germany.
Good luck and enjoy

Thanks. Much appreciated. I'll update you when I get it checked out. The car runs strong even at .6 bar but I'd like to feel what it's like at .8 and beyond.

Other than solving your boost issue - my digital gauge has always registered 0.8 when it should - I'd hold off on any mods until you've driven the car for 6 months or so. There are often unintended consequences. Read rennlist and learn things.

Thanks Ronnie. I will definitely take things one step at a time. I have a Autometer mechanical gauge that was put in by the PO. I'm still learning about this car. My previous 95 C2 cab was much simpler.

Thanks!
How does it run? There are not many roads where I can peg 0.8 boost for over 1-2 seconds without going to jail so it befuddles me when people here claim to see 0.8 boost comfortably and consistently.
