If you could have just one....

Cross posted from Gt3 thread...but if you could have only one - a 993tt with hard backs essentially mint OR a new 991.2 GT3 with a stick...which would you have/ keep. BTW...selling PTS Targa is a non starter as it is my wife's. Thank you.

Two totally different cars but I'll give you my $0.02. I own both a 993 tt w/ hard backs and a 997 GT3 RS. If I was in your shoes I'd go with a 993 tt right now. There will always be a better, faster GT3. the 993 market has softened and I think this is a great time to get a good car, plus they're a lot of fun to drive. They feel hand made compared to 991 and subjectively I think they look so much better. The aircooled motor sound is intoxicating, even the turbo and I just love the size and build quality of these cars. Another point is you don't have to be going ridiculous speeds to have fun in the 993. There you have it.

Depends how you plan to use the car:

1) Rub with diapers, keep in garage, and look at it- 993 Turbo
2) Actually drive it, short trips, long trips, and a few occasional track/autoX day- GT3

Hilarious and largely true :p
How else do we explain the numbers of these 20 year old cars coming up for sale with 20k miles on them
Which reminds me. I need to put another load of diapers in the wash....

Get both, drive both, life is short.

Naw
Drive the 993 t - short trips, long trips, as many track days as you can. Replace parts, keep driving. Rub it with diapers too, and look at it by all means... ;)

3tt. The limits on the new GT3 are so high, unless you regularly track it, it will be a snoozer on the street. The 993 is more fun on the street.

So agree with consensus that if you plan to track, GT3. For a fun street car, 993.

Not again, Dennis... How many 993tt's do you have to sell, regret selling and then buy another before you will learn that you have to have one in your garage...?

BTW - don't forget that you do have access to a company that can build a nice garage addition!

Don't sell rare cars. It's that simple. The 993TT is rarer than any GT3 will ever be.

The bank never seems to agree with this philosophy when I apply for a loan:eek:

993TT, no brainer.

Tuff choices for sure.*
I am facing similar dilemma with 991.2 GT3 incoming.
Do I sell the 97 993TT street car or the 996 GT3 which I still love for the track.
I'm not sure how much track I'll do with the .2 GT3

*Good problems to have any day of the week

I'm trading my PTS Irish Green targa in when my .2 GT3 touring arrives. Mine is pretty low spec, but I'd agree on trading Targa and keeping 993tt. For me, it would be the different driving experiences on 991 vs. 993 (granted GT3 totally different than Targa - but old school air cool, vs. 991). I'd just like to have something totally different. My 2 cents.

Captain racing 11-06-2017 01:11 AM

I'd take the 993tt and keep my 991.1 gt3
