I would, however, go with 225/45 front if it's available.
Do you mean 235? That's what I'm running and it works great!

I mean 225 front and 255 rears, actually. 235 might work well, but I have no first hand experience with that in 17".

I love the Re71 for both street and track use, very grippy

they come w/ minimal tread depth, similar to what you used to get when you had new tires shaved before delivery, this will limit usability w/ standing water and w/ tread-life

here are the matched sets for use w/ 18s

Ah ok, I was thinking in 18s. I'm using 235/265 and its working well for me. I'll probably try 235/275 next but figure it'll induce a little more understeer.

Sounds like you've already made up your mind, but I've been running RE71Rs for a season in dry and wet (but no track) and they're outstanding. A nice grippy tire that isn't too noisy...did I mention it's grippy? I'm still not sure about wear, I've put on maybe 3K miles on them and they seem still pretty meaty...

Not worried so much about wear.

Fwiw mine are wearing slower than I expected. I think at the track they go quickly but on the street they are holding up well.

I've been using these on my Lemons racer and they are great. On the track, they wear VERY quickly though. Basically only good for one day of Lemons racing, which is 2x the wear rate of the ZIIs or Falkin Azenis.

That's interesting since they've been exceeding my expectations on the street. I thought they'd melt away, but wear has been very reasonable.

I wonder if this is heat related. After they get hot perhaps they become soft enough to wear much more quickly.

I just spent a weekend with these tires at the track. The dry grip is exceptional. Fortunately I didn't have to test the wet grip. I was expecting worse in terms of wear, but they held up well IMO after 2 days of use. I'll have them off the car again to inspect further.

RE-71's were on a LOT of cars at the DE. These and Pilot Sport Cup 2's.
