Default Two different Arena Red paint codes?

I need to respray my front bumper skin and was researching the Arena Red paint code. And for my year, 97, Porsche has two different paint codes, L84R and L84S. Does anyone here know what the difference is?

I have heard of this as well. My current 993C4S Arena Red car is much more vibrant with deeper reds. My previous 993tt had more of a brown tone to it. Local body shop told me there were two different paint codes.

You should PM JPP - I remember he did quite a lot of research on the two codes during his speedster project build.

I may be mistaken on this but I think the difference is that the L84S code is actually "Arena Red Pearl" and the other is Arena Red. I may be wrong here, my car is L84s and the sticker says Arena red Pearl- but maybe they all say that??

My fender sticker says the same, 84S Arena Red Metallic. So what is 84R?

Interesting to hear. The PO of my car bought a 97 993 Coupe after selling me his cab. Though the coupe was Arena Red also, when the cars were next to each other, the coupe was browner than mine.

And I thought only Ferrari did this kind of crap. Ever seen how many shades of Rosso Corsa there are?

Apologies for bumping this thread but I found something interesting today. May explain why my arena seems so hard to match. I. This thread from the 97 above it lists Arenarotmetallic as the color code name. My 96 has Arenablaumetallic. Not a German language expert here but that seems to imply Arena Blue Metallic.

Has anyone seen this before?

That's just strange. Blau means nothing more than blue - how is your red car "blue"? Practical joke?

Here are some pictures from last year in multiple lighting situations.

Wonder if my car was repainted at some time in the past and they put a wrong sticker in it? I have seen no evidence of it being any other color as I pulled the entire interior out of it last winter and it's all Arena Red in the spare tire area under the frunk mat. Mystery continues.
