The belt tensioning tool can be had at a fraction of the cost ($15'ish bux) if only you can tolerate it not coming in a Porsche box...
Porsche box, add $35-$40

Gates or Kriket belt tension tool.

Yes, I have the kriket. Set tension with it on the high side of the range during alternator install, adjusted it once since then. Checked tension cold this morning, and am going to compare after a drive since it's supposed to be measured warm.

So far, loosening the shroud strap has reduced the duration of the noise by probably half. It's gone in 30-45 seconds now.

Tension spec for a used belt: 15-23 increments (kg) cold, 20-28 at op temp

I found the alternator belt at 15-17kg cold, 19 warm, and the fan belt at 22-24 cold, and around 30 hot.

So I think I need to move a shim from the alternator pulley to the fan pulley, redistributing tension slightly. Hopefully that tweak will further reduce the noise.

In regards to the clutch pedal squeaking, I can confirm that the noise is coming from the rear and not from the pedal box. Simply leaning my head out of the open door while pressing the clutch told me it's coming from the rear of the car. I'll try to grease the pin next time it's up on stands. Can the slave cylinder be removed from the trans without opening up the hydraulic system? Looking at photos tells me it can, but I'd appreciate confirmation.
