993 radio/dash wire help
I am installing a CDR-210 radio into a 95 993. Stephan at SW Stereo Specialists, 732-522-1837, is a great resource, he's provided me with an adapter to ease the install. However, there's a green wire with female terminal that I'm not sure of what it does or where it goes. See photo. Any insights greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Going through something similar myself, I believe thats the security wire ,I'm installing the same radio in my '95 coupe only because the alarm module won't reset without it until I figure out a means to bypass .
Currently completely rewire and change harness on RS club sport project with factory 3.8 RS engine..

Thanks Bert, I'm relatively new to 993 focusing more on early 911/356 where wiring is very simple. Since this wire was not used with previous aftermarket radio, can I just tape it up and tuck it away?
Regarding security and alarm, I note the driver's manual makes mention of it and there's a window sticker, but the system is invisible to me. One owner says you have to press the key button to start car, but that's not the case with mine. Maybe the PO had it disconnected?

I'm going on memory here so, if others want to correct me, I've got a thick hide. Normally, the green wire female connector gets connected to a male blade on the side of the metal DIN radio frame that the radio slides into.

Try searching for "green wire", and you'll find many threads on this topic.
This was the alarm wire for the original radio. It was connected to the radio frame, and was to be connected to ground when the radio was taken out.
Insulate with tape and tuck away in there.
Cheers,
Tore

many thanks for all the help! Install of CDR-210 into 95 993 went great. Adapter from Stephan at SW Stereo Specialists, 732-522-1837 was key --- although antenna adapter is pretty flimsy, not positive attachment at radio end. Maybe the one I have is defective, calling back for another.
