Shouldn't that have been $20K higher?

My guess is that it went to a dealer and we'll soon see it again at $20k-$30k higher.

Good Buy?

https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...modelCode1=911

Minor accident on carfax from a taxi that slid in the snow while car was parked. (rear tails and bumper had to get repaired)

Fair price to pay on this one once everything checks out?

The seller seems to claims no accidents. Did a CarFax divulge the details? If so, I might not trust anything else the owner says.

The 964 was the last of the 26 stage paint process. Today it could bankrupt a company. I have 2 with original paint and two totally resprayed. IMO I prefer the original paint despite the top quality of the paintwork. (it is only original once) however less worries with a resprayed car. My friend sold a 993TT on BaT a while back with mostly original paint and it looked as good as new. Irrespective of the quality of the paintwork an original paint car well taken care of is always worth more IMO.

100% in agreement. Original paint is preferred. I think what most of us were talking about here is on a 993 that has average to below average original paint or already had some paint work (bumper or a panel resprayed) or paint chips/rock rash/rust spots. With a car in that condition many would rather have a quality respray (again who does the work, the prep process and documentation of the process all affect its desirability). How it would affect overall value is another argument, but most again would agree excellent/good condition original paint is worth more.

I would go that far on this one if I was serious even if compression was acceptable. The brake fluid is a tad dark but has definately been flushed which is a sign that a PO did some basic maintenance. I’d budget for an engine out to do proper reseal and to give everything a good once over. The other benefit is that it’s an early production 718 car which means OBDI and no drive block!

I would be in the very very low $30s (maybe even an opening salvo in the $20s) knowing it will need $5k to $10k worth of service. What is the dealer asking? Are there any records with the car?

As as for the paint? I’d fix the rust around the glass, paint those spots flat black, and touch nothing else!! Drive it and enjoy the patina & personality that it brings to the car - that, IMHO, would be the best part of owning it!!

Very true, Carfax noted "Minor Accident Reported" involving rear. Weird because Autocheck is clear but it is on the Carfax. And lacking maintenance history documentation, as they were misplaced from transport.

Guys how much off of selling price would you consider fair for a car that has been repainted? Considering it was just discovered, and not accounted for previously?

Depends on the car and if it's a low mileage/collector grade car or driver. Might add or subtract value depending on the quality repaint and the circumstances.
