Default Big Thanks to Andreas (AOW162435)

My spoiler had been making that suspect grinding noise leading me to believe that i needed to rebuilt the trans with a new bearing. I contacted Andreas (AOW162435) on a whim based on all the great work i've seen him do in the past posted on the forums. I read the DIY's and thought about tackling it myself but glad i didn't (More on that later). Sure enough, Andreas agreed to help.

I sent him the spoiler transmission along with a new bearing that i had ordered from Gert at Carnewal. Andreas notified me when the packaged arrived and updated me while he worked.

A few highlights:

Sounds like mine was in really bad shape which is why i'm glad i didn't try this myself! Surprising for a 39k mi 993.

I had noticed that the casing over the cable was becoming brittle and cracking off at the ends which i mentioned before sending. Sure enough, Andreas found a great solution

Just wanted to let Andreas know how much i appreciated his hard work! Even though a minor job, he took his time to make sure everything was perfect! Its guys like these that help make these forums a better place Reinstalled it today and it worked perfectly! Thanks man!

He'd be much more of an asset if he were detail-oriented.

Jason,
Thank you for entrusting your gearbox to someone as sketchy as myself - I enjoyed the rebuild. Pics below.

As a moderator, you should hold yourself to a much higher standard than the masses, and refrain from online chicanery & general malfeasance.

A wonderful thread and story, reflecting lots of meticulous work and sharing same, the epitome of what this Forum and its members reflect. Andreas is an obvious asset...
Mark, was your surprising comment as moderator meant as a joke, or the contrary?

Thank you!

I can speak for Mark - it was merely a joke. We've known each other too long.

Very sanitary workmanship, Andreas!
Did you cut the inter bearing race off with a Dremel cut off wheel?

Thank you. Yes, I happened to have a previously-used cut off wheel with a small diameter which allowed me to score just the bearing race. That and some carefully-applied heat from a MAPP gas torch did the trick.
