Front wishbone replacement
The local porsche dealer informed me today that my front wishbones, need replacing due to bush wear, he is quoting £800 + VAT. Is this a DIY job? Anyone out there done it themselves and what was the job like? (I am a pretty competant DIY'er)
Is it worth even trying due to then needing to get a factory alignmenmt?
Can you get the parts cheaper from factors or specialists - Euro Car parts / Gert anyone else? (I am in the UK)
My car is a '95 993 with ~65,000 miles and only street use.
TIA
John S.

From my invoice at independent alignment shop, when they did the RoW M030:
Replace right and left control arms
993-341-018-01 lower control arm (right) $399, plus 8.25% tax
993-341-017-00 lower control arm (left) $399
Labor to install both (@ $85/hr) $179
The shop thought this was not unusual at this mileage. I saw the bushings, and they were worn enough to allow about 1/4" of play. The bushings are not sold separately by Porsche.
I can't speak for your competence as a DIYer, but it would have been well beyond me. I am glad they noticed it when they did the suspension change.

John,
who's you local dealer. Is it an OPC.
Price sounds on the high side.
I suggest a 2nd opinion
Edit: JZM gave me a better quote than that for the front bushes!

Terry, Bins and Phil, thanks for the advice.
The dealer was lovett the OPC in Swindon, who I have to say have been excellent and I am very happy with, I will phone JZM for a quote.
Sounds like independent is the way to go for this job
Cheers
