I had one of my tie rods blow out and was looking for old style "turbo tie rods" or a solid tie rod that does not have the rubber. I came across the elephant product and thought it was a good value, I have used all their other bushings so I purchased and installed. I have a 95 that has not been lowered, all I was looking for was more of a solid feel in the steering and never having to worry about it blowing out again. I installed with both bushings on top, and had to move the bottom of the shock to allow installation. It has made a significant improvement in the solid feel in the steering especially over bumps. So far I would do again, but I have not had the car aligned yet, waiting for better weather before I get it done, then I will have more feedback on the overall benefits

Hey ricks993, great feedback. Did not want to move the shock, but squide, and you both report having to do just that, so I will plan on it.
I spoke with Chuck from Elephant Racing yesterday. When he gets a minute, he promised he would respond to comments regarding the development of their bump steer tie rods. Stay tuned

You can get the old tie rod off without removing the shock off but the angle on the new tie rod is different. I did not remove the shock just released the bottom

Interested to see if this changes when I swap in the PSS10s.

Wanted to bump this thread to see if anyone else has tried Elephant Racing's bump steer kit. After installing my PSS10s, I now have bump steer. It's not bad, but it's annoying and not ideal.

Thanks, Chao; I saw that thread. My guess is that it will be at least a year before the first (unproven) versions of them will be available, likely longer. I was hoping that the Elephant kit would ameliorate most of the bump steer I'm experiencing.

Mark

It's interesting to see your comments on previous race car vs current car. I guess maybe 964s are more pronounced with bump steer with their more antiquated rear suspension setup affecting front handling characteristics.

I don't feel much bump steer and so am questioning this upgrade. However, collecting the parts is never a bad thing just in case..

Mark, I would look closer at your lower control arm angles before deciding on a solution that only addresses the tie rods.

The factory wheel carriers dialed out a LOT of understeer as well as Bumpsteer.

Hang tight I feel 6 months from now factory parts will be back in play.

I think it's great to see shops like BBI trying to tackle this problem. Unfortunately it does appear that these uprights are still months away from production. Moreover, the billet construction may well price these out for those unwilling to shell out $5,000 or more for the pair. 997 GT3 uprights may be another alternative on the horizon, but this is also nascent at present.

Maybe it's a lack of imagination but I don't see how 993 wheel carriers will work on a 993

This post help me...I'm going to get the Elephant Bump Steer Kit.

I lowered mine to MO3O stock Euro height with MY 02 wheels and I get bump steer but not bad. Worse with two people and the faster I go. If I take a turn with a dip in it or gaps from cement joints at high speeds its not so great..this is a great fix.

I'll post when I'm done.
