RS pulley pros/cons - what are they?
Search was fruitless, so I'm gonna have to ask.
What is the functional result of replacing the stock fan pulley/alternator pulley/belts arrangement with the RS pulley?
Is the alternator turned at a lower speed with the RS pulley? If so, how much slower?
What is the usual cost of the parts needed for the RS pulley conversion?

The function is that you only have one belt to drive both the alternator and the fan.
Yes it spins the alternator slower. Don't know exactly the ratios. Cost is just over $100 for the part.
Result, is one less belt to break, a cleaner look, and less HP used to turn another belt. Downside... Can't think of any an I have a tiny battery and with that and the pulley I have had no issues at all...

i too have this setup! It definetely spins the alternator slower but my battery seems to be fine. i would imagine a lot of traffic driving might be a problem. the only symptom i have is at idle the headlights and even dash lights are a bit dimmer.
upside is less weight to turn = more hp. probably fairly small hp difference but i'll take it. i bought the part form patrick motorsports for $119.

Sounds like it might be helpful to have a good cigarette lighter voltmeter to keep an eye on the charging system when equipped with the RS pulley, though I suspect that unless you are using seat, mirror, and rear window heaters in stop and go traffic there probably isn't going to be a problem.
Anyone seen a good voltmeter like this?

The A/C belt is not touched. Actually you can install it without even removing the A/C belt. Just cut off the alternator belt (one in the middle) and move the other belt out of the way when you remove the fan housing. Then just pop the fan belt back on the pulley when you reinstall the fan housing. Makes the job a lot faster...

Another HUGE benefit, imho, is that you can now change your fan belt with simple tools and use standard size nuts to hold on the fan pulley.
With the old system, the bolts that hold on the fan pulley are POS bolts which strip all the time. Turning a 15 minute job into a several hour affair. Imagine the feeling when you are stranded on the road and you strip one of those little bolts. ARGH!!

Me too. my belts are showing some very minute cracks so it would be a good time for me to do this. If the alternator is turning less, does that mean it may last longer? I know they are not cheap to replace.

I guess the guy I talked to got ripped off. $1,800 installed
