Default Ground Cable & New Battery

The previous battery died, replaced the battery, and the ground strap for good measure.

The battery is a AGM style, I will report on model and its performance later.

The important thing is what I found when replacing the ground strap.
I never noticed, but the body connection was never done correctly. Possibly by me. When removing the old one, the other wires grounded were against the body, and they were smaller. Then the main ground, so the ground current had to travel thru the smaller connectors to the body.
This time I made sure the main cable from the battery was the one against the body, with the smaller ones after.

Big difference in cranking, really spins over faster! Not sure if the new battery type, or proper grounding did it, but much faster than the last battery when new!

You can also take that brand new grounding strap and solder it. Easy DIY.
Clean everything up with sand paper and spray white grease on the battery terminals.
Cheers

Allan,
I like the suggestion of soldering, but why white grease on the batt terminals, as opposed to dielectric grease?

Allan,

by soldering the new cable, I am guessing you mean the end connectors, to ensure good electrical current?

The new cable is crimped and sealed pretty tight, no access. Or you mean...

corrosion gets in over time. Copper oxidizes. Soldering will make it last 20 years.
Heat up the end with a torch, let your flux run in to the joint, run the solder in after. easy.
