Question Floor Mats

I understand that Porsch won't allow the use of "Porsche" "911" etc. So, I was wondering........has anyone tried having the "Porsche" lettering dyed? I would like to have red on my black mats.

My old set of mats had red "Porsche" lettering embroidered on black; I think they were official ones.

I just purchased and returned a new set of floor mats from the local Porsche dealer (Holtz). These were supposed to be black but, in fact were a dark gray/green even though the part number was for black.

As a result, I too am looking for a source for black (real black) with, hopefuly, red "Porsche" lettering. Anyone know a source?

Thanks.

Just ordered and recieved a set of factory mats from a dealer. Black, but the letters were black as well, no red. Bleh. They were Porsche factory mats, not aftermarket, and came in a sealed Porsche box.

Also, they did not come with the hole/grommet in the mat that you put the plastic nut through to hold them down. Instead they came with those clips that pin to the carpet beneath.

Neither the color of the embroidery, nor the clips were a good change IMO.

Everyone,

The Porsche factory mats that they now supply suck!! The dealer gave me a brand new set for my 1997 when I bought the car in the spring. Real junk material and those stupid clip/spring things to hold them in place.

Gabe at Strasse (877-944-9911 or website www.strasseusa.com) sold me a set of mats a few months ago that are the original, high quality mats that came with the 993's. They were made by Lloyd. Apparently Porsche got a better deal and are now made by brand X.

I bought a set of mats from Strasse that were IDENTICAL to the black ones in my car when new and are beautiful quality. They are made by Lloyd. Only problem is they (Lloyd) are limited to what they can embroider on the mat. Cannot use PORSCHE in block letters. I had mine made with 911 stitched in. Red lettering on black mat. Looks great and same hole to secure.

Suggest you call Gabe. He can fax you a list and style of what they are permitted to stitch into the mats legally, without getting sued by Porsche.

Mike,

Dang, those sound like what I wanted.

Your mats have the grommeted hole in them?

Craig,

Yes they have the grommeted hole and come with a set of the plastic screws. Very nice product and identical to your original factory mats. I suppose you could buy them plain (no stitching) and have a shop embroider the PORSCHE logo...

Craig,

Don't remember off-hand and my 911 files are at home. Give Gabe a call. Great guy. He also sells the "retro-key kit" to convert that junk switchblade key to a US style.

Fullerton, huh? My roommate at UCSB was from Fullerton. Many good times there. We have about a foot of snow on the ground and its about 25 F right now, if you want to swap places for three months. Leave your ride, though......
