Not wife yet, but she went from completely uninterested in cars before, to now learning how to drive manual in a 915-equipped 911 of all things! With grace and a smile - we are all pretty lucky

Awesome to see the ladies behind the wheel. We are all lucky if we have wives that enjoy the hobby and participate in some way. The technical threads are good but these threads are fun!
And kudos to Mark for his perspective on moderating this forum. It is definitely a more welcoming venue.

My beautiful, ultra-competitive wife loves to drive our 96 993 Targa Tip. She's somewhat of a legend in our local Porsche Club in that she's very fast and loves passing the other members, primarily men. On long trips she complains that she doesn't get as much motion sickness if she drives, but sometimes it seems that it's just a trick to get more time behind the wheel on "Porsche" roads.
It's all good!

When you depart the garage, assuming Uber Ram hasn't vacated, I predict whoever is not driving your car will be outside, behind the truck, as lookout aiding in the exit, keeping your car being creamed.
And, add cheap fuel, more drivers, ever more vehicular distractions, it's only getting worse.
Good move with a curb on the left.

I tried teaching my wife standard many years ago on a 915 tranny. She did ok then started worrying about it & gave up. This has motivated me to try again with the 993. She has really enjoyed the car & car people this past year, so I think she's into learning to drive it.

Great posts and fun thread.
As a wife, and driver, and instructor - I have received nothing but a warm welcome at the track from male colleagues. Most have said they wish their wife/GF/SO would come and participate in some way. I think it's cool the guys want us around. At first I wasn't sure if I'd be welcome - not knowing if it was a "boy's club". I was pleasantly surprised.
My husband also drives (or used to before his health declined) and loves that I go to the track.
I see more and more women at the track - both behind the wheel and in the paddock. Some are just there for social, and some like to act as pit crew but prefer not to drive. I always go out of my way to meet the women - us girls gotta stick together!

Three Wheelin'
My wife got the 'bug' when we got a Miata many years ago. What a fun car! Then we got an RS America and she did many track days and autocrosses with me. She always did great, was a quick learner and was an all around safer driver than me. Its a great hobby/sport to share and can bring a lot of joy.

Come to think, I actually taught my previous GF to drive, from scratch, in my first 993, Including parallel parking. With all the honking and dirty looks. Her driver's license exam was... in a supercharged roll-barred E46 M3. The cop/examiner comment was: "You passed the moment you moved it in 1st gear".
At autocross events, BTW, women are always welcome and supported. I'd say that we have between 15 and 20% ladies at any event, depending on the club. And it's always a pleasure instructing couples, especially when they get competitive with each other.
