Need purchase advice on 993 C2S

A friend of mine is selling his 97 C2S with factory aero kit, 27k miles, white with blue interior. What is a fair price to pay for this car? It's very nice. No issues. I've seen similar cars for sale at prices all over the place. Some have sold, some haven't.

Thanks.

What can tell us about the options?

LSD/ABD?
Technology Wheels?
Motor Sound?
Sports Seats?

How many owners? Clean Carfax?

Depending upon the options, I would think a dealer would ask between $105k and $118k. What they would actually sell it for is a bit harder to determine.

I need to look at the options sticker. Everything on the car is excellent. No issues.

I would imagine any 20 year old car has some issues. Get a PPI before you purchase, friend or not

Really. It has no issues. Everything works as it should. The shop where my brother works serviced it. Needs nothing.

Is this a $70k car or a$100k car? finding asking prices is one thing. Actual purchase prices are another.

It's a $100K car from a dealer. It's a $70K car if this guy really is your friend :roflmao:

I would suggest you spend some time searching final sales on eBay, and looking at Autotrader, Cars.com, PCA sales etc. to get more info. No one here really knows more than you will, since you have eyeballs on the car.

Sounds like a nice ride, and if it really has zero issues, it's closer to $100K than $70K, that's for sure.

Good luck

Sounds closer to $100K car based on current sales of C2S / C4S Under 30K miles in excellent top shape. Haggerty lists it at $118K in Excellent Condition. But again actual sales vs wanted price are two different things...............

Take a picture of the build sticker under the hood...it will list color combo, and options. That will help better determine arm chair value.

Here is a benchmark for comparison from a dealer.

Yeah, but the problem is, asking prices don't mean $hit.

Only final sale price matters

Opo 09-17-2016 06:33 PM

If the car checks out and with today's prices I will say $85k

dannycf 09-17-2016 06:33 PM

The particular dealer who's examples are being
sited has some of the most unreasonably high asking prices out there. Not really useful as an example IMHO.

Options don't swing the value nearly as much as "low miles, original paint, accident history, maintenance records and originality vs mods." Unless it has a unicorn option such as sunroof delete, nothing else is going to move the needle much other than sport seats and even those add only $3k or so. We know it has blue interior vs. black, so that's a slight drawback to most.

I'd say if it was your brother $70k; if it's a good friend $80-85k; an acquaintance $90-95k and a private party $100-110k depending on the variables mentioned above. Dealers would be around $120-125k (at least the reasonable ones).

I agree with U7....

For comparison....there is an 85,000 mile C2S on Rennlist Facebook for $85k that most appear to believe is a fair price.

Another issue is the aero kit. This was a very expensive option, but I don't think it is necessarily a positive on the resale market. It is sort of like a swimming pool with a house in the Midwest.
