Issue with Bluetooth fault code reader???
Has anybody experienced adverse effects from using a Bluetooth fault code reader? i haven't been able to reset a single category in over a thousand miles. This includes cold start, long idle. My mechanic says his Porsche Hammer can't communicate. But the Blue tooth can. Says he's heard that some BT readers can mess with the ECU. True? I've used a Blue Driver unit that worked fine, or so I thought. Now I'm not so sure.

An off-the-shelf OBD reader/scanner will only at best be able to communicate with the Motronic engine management system in the 964/993. There's only a handful of systems that can do all the OBD-connected things in our cars. (Motronic, ABS, air bag, alarm and climate control)
*The Bosch Porsche "hammer" (KTS 301) or later Bosch Porsche tools as PST2 or PIWIS
*Freeware Rennlist Scantool Windows software (serial port adapter as the T-OBD needed)
*Durametric Windows software with a proper serial cable
*Jenniskens OBD UDT/PDT999 diagnostic tool
I have never seen any issues using off-the-shelf code readers, other than that they most often does not work as expected.
Cheers,
Tore
