Oil pressure question

Oil pressure question
I was in a traffic jam and waiting for the traffic light on a very steep hill facing downwards. My oil pressure warning light was on and the oil pressure gauge showed zero. Few more minutes later I heard the cam followers started to make noise. Luckily, I was down to the level ground already shortly after that and everything was back to normal. No more noise, all readings were normal again.
The slope was actually very steep but was there anything wrong with my engine?
Cheers

Three Wheelin'
Agree with LexVan, those are good numbers. However, the warning light, gauge and noise all indicate that the oil pump was starved. Not sure if this could result from the decline, or if something else could be at play.

You have a "Dry Sump" system....
Theoretically it should run just fine upside down, as in an aircraft engine. Assuming this is true (And I believe it is), then there is no hill steep enough that will cause the OP light to come on. Talk to your mechanic....

Thanks for all the good advices. I live on a hill, I had the same problem with my 928 S4 before too but it happened when I was stucked in a traffic on a up hill street (not down hill). The warning light was on but there was no lifers noise like this time.

Dry Sump, a 911 Exclusive
With Porsche AG, the dry sump is exclusive to the 911 engine starting in 1964 ish through the 1998 model year. It is also found on the some other iterations of the 911 such certain years of the Turbo (I am not a historian) as well as the the GT3 2004-05 I believe.

We have had some oil starvation issues in race cars subjected to very high G's, requiring extensive modifications to the oil tank.
Airplane engines such as Lycoming, Continental, & Franklin (which are wet sump) that fly upside down (for more than a moment) have special oiling systems with multiple pickups and carry special designations for aerobatic work.
Even radial engines (which are truly dry sump) need multiple pickups for that kind of use.

Today, I passed the down hill street again and the sign says it is a 1:5 slope down. Because of the traffic jam, my car was stucked in this slope for almost 10mins.Is it steep?
Cheers.
