Prospective buyers showing up at my door.
Lacking a garage, my '95 993 cab lives parked in front of my house under a car cover. Over the last 6 months or so I've had 4 people come ring my doorbell interested in buying it. One even sent his little kid to the door to say that his dad wanted to buy my car. The odd thing is that I've had the car for 12 years, lived in this house for 4 years, but never had this happen until this year.
Anyone else have this happen? A sign that 993 values are going up?
Even if I could get the $65k that my car went for new, I can't think of any other car I would rather own for the money, so the temptation to sell is nonexistent.

I had it happen regularly when I had my '87 Carrera. People coming to my door, leaving their number under my windshield wiper when the car was parked in a lot, etc. My 993 lives inside and I don't commute in it or I'm sure it would happen with it too.

You're missing the point! Keeping a 993 outside is a major risk as several have been stolen in So. CA in the last year. As a matter of fact, my insurance wants to see a pix of where I store the car and it better be inside! This all because you own a "last of air cooled" which has gone way up in value.

I heard a knock at the door when living in my old place. Young kid standing there and then turned around a said he had the wrong house. Watched him do the same to a few other houses and then got into an old jeep. I didn't think much of it.
Two days later, 4 houses were broken into on the street.
They can learn a lot from a simple knock. Who's home, alarm beep, dog, etc.
Back on topic...I was pulled over a few weeks ago. Gent was very polite when I said it wasn't for sale.

I just took delivery Saturday 1996 C4S here in Pittsburgh and went for a short drive. Was at a light and some guy yells out his window you want to sell that?? I couldn't believe it. I was like "hell no!" I am guessing there is more to come.

Its a strange feeling almost like you've been violated! I had a property listed for sale. I had the realtor remove it from the market while we were away. I must have received 20-30 phone calls from brokers looking to take on the listing. Another 5 show up at my house. A few very creepy emails from locals that moonlight as brokers and have seen me out and about around town and are trying to make a "connection". Moral of the story is don't show up at my house or stalk me... Same thing with my cars!

A while back my wife had a teenager yell across an intersection " I love you, and not just because of your car" while driving our former 86'. Worked for her!

I've had strangers leave their business cards/notes saying how nice my car is, they always wanted one like it, AND if I was ever to sell it, they wanted it!
Not ready to part with it yet.
