Default Any 993 owners order a a 718 Cayman? Your thoughts?

Any fellow 993 owners thinking or ordered 718 Cayman? I am trying to fulfill my dream of ordering my first new Porsche - so need to spend wisely and get it spec'ed as close to my dream. 3 pedals of course, while still debating Base or S.

Just as I thought I'm ready to order a 981 (as that's the closes modern Porsche to a 993 and of course my wallet), they make a big enough change that I'm hesitating. The 718 Boxster I test drove is fast and refined, but the sound of the turbo Flat 4 is no NA Flat 6. I must admit I was a little disappointed afterwards even though I smiled throughout the test drive.

I will still look for CPO 981s, but not as many up here. And I really wanted to order a new one. GT4s requires arm & leg & organs and GTS left are only PDK.

Maybe I wait again?

That was the reaction of the Globe & Mail's reviewer, Mark Hacking, as well.

Another reviewer compared the sound to that of a Subaru. I've done a bit of reading on why Subaru's sound rough, and it may have something to do with the unequal length exhaust headers.

Based on other forum opinions, I gave arm, leg and $10k over to get allocation for GT4. It was my first new Porsche and spec'd to my taste plus a four month wait that included following the ship to San Diego on my laptop. (See avatar). If you can stand the pain, do it this one time, like I, and don't look back. If you're in for investment purposes, forget it.

981S everyday of the week (my wife has one). They are mass produced so you'll find one in your spec easily enough. They will be the more sought after further on down the road.

It is 100% due to the unequal length headers, good call

Don't worry all so much about the sound of the 718, we will make it sound how it should

For reference here is what we accomplished on the 991.2 Carrera.

If anyone has a 718 they'd like to lend us for product development with perks, please let me know!

You guys are reading my mind

Rick-A-Shay - exactly my thoughts deep down w/ GT4. Buy once and don't look back. However, here in Canada, most $100k GT4 are listed now as CPO with price tag of $150k+ with zero wiggle room; the 50%+ premium is too much for me; but not sure if people are actually buying it at this price

golfnutintib - totally with you. CPO GTS in manual is my next choice since GT4 dream is so distance

The only other option if I go down CPO is 997.2 or 991 in manual. Maybe stars are not aligning (yet) on my new one.
