Engine hood: where do I lubricate?
Does anyone know where I lubricate the engine hood? I have squeak when I open it that I can not track down. Thanks so much.

If it is the pivot points, they are way back on the sides of the engine bay. They may be best gotten to by soaking a small rag with a little oil and finding the pivots by feel and rubbing the oil-soaked rag onto them. Also, the lower pivot point for the gas hold-up struts can be lubed in the same way. Consider rubbing the rag on the plunger shafts of the struts as they conceivably can be squeaking. If the squeaking is internal to the struts they can be easily replaced DIY. Then again maybe things like this are better left unattended to until the struts can no longer hold the lid up and need replacing anyway.

Good ideas. I have wd40 all over the area that I need to clean up. I like your idea of a lubricated rag run over the offending region. Will use the Wurth hhsk I just picked up for this application. Struts are strong.

Could the struts be causing the squeak if they are still strong? The squeak lives on....
