Porsche 911 and it's strong ties to terrorism...
In L.A., parking my 993 at The Grove, a big mall here in town. I usually park in an area far away from other cars, as to avoid car dings, etc.
I get out my car, and as I'm walking away, there's a nice looking lady, about 40-ish; looks like a typical "Real Housewives" type, walking towards my general direction to her car.
This is the conversation that ensues as I'm about to walk by her:
Me: "Hello..."
Her: "Hi. Now that's a nice looking car"
Me: "Thanks, yeah, it's an oldie but a goodie"
Her: "What kind of car is that?"
Me: "Oh it's a Porsche Nine-Eleven"
(Pause)
Her: "Nine-Eleven....seriously? You're joking, right?"
Me "Well, no, that's the...."
Her (interrupts): Why would anyone name a car after the terror attacks?????"
(Pause)
Me: "Uhh...."
Her: "That's not funny; that's just disgusting"
...and she storms off in a huff.
A version of this has now happened to me TWICE in the 11 years I've owned my car. And this lady wasn't even a blonde.

Au contraire. She probably was a blonde, and dyed her hair so as to not to advertise the dumbass PC woman she is. Too bad she wasn't told it was a 993. (Oslo Accords released - though, she would probably have thought the Oslo Accords were cars built in Norway.)

Welcome to Los Angeles; this isn't the first time this has happened to me.
Several years ago, I mentioned my car was a "nine-eleven" and a gal at first thought the same thing; that Porsche had named the car after September 11th. I had to inform her that the car pre-dated the attacks by "a few years"....
