Default Bilstein B8 vs B6

Hi guys,

Need an opinion, I'm thinking of lowering the car with M033 springs, and on the way, substitute the original shocks. Reading about this I came across the info that the B8 are a better match for the M033, so I was wondering that if the car sits to low and I want to go original height, will the original springs work OK with the B8?

Thanks

If you want to use original springs to retain original height, get the B6.

Pc007, I've done a lot of research on Bilstein shocks and from what I've read, B8's are best for ROW M030 and B6 for US shocks and M033. Many also pair Koni FSD with M033 springs and believe most are satisfied. I'm going the ROW m030 route paired with B8s.

Thanks guys,

One more question, what will happen if I pair b8's with stock springs?

Thanks

Interesting perspective Waizone. OP may want to reach out to Gert at Carnewal who is very knowledgeable in this area. Gert favors the B8's (not the B6) for MO33's to eliminate the "floating spring" issue. I ride MO33's with B8's.

Per Gert's website: "The Bilstein B8 shocks have the same damping as the Bilstein B6 but the stroke of the pistons is 20mm shorter. Due to the shorter rebound, it makes the Bilstein B8 an excellent match for the use with RoW M030 and M033 spring as it eliminates the "floating spring" issue which you will have when you combine B6 and M033 springs."

Hi Waizone

Came across your post from 2016 stating you'll be putting on the b8's with M033 springs. How has the ride treated you? Looking to do the same and would appreciate the feedback Thanks!
