Default 993s oil cooler / radiators leaks

Hi All,

i've noticed while i was watching under the front bumper
that i have oil dripping from the oil cooler at the front of the car passenger side.
I can see through the bumper grill a nasty splash of oil and gunk on the lower part of the radiator.

Many people probably have those leaks but do not notice it until it drips through the bumper.
I'm watching the PET, and i see the feeders connecting the upper part of the radiator.
What is it the most common failure?, the hoses, unions, rings, or the radiator itself?

You can pull the passenger side headlight and take a peak around the hose fittings to see if the leak is from around there. Use a small mirror.

Worst case being a leaky cooler - they aren't horribly expensive. Don't get it from the dealer order it from Pelican, it's made by the exact same company. Can't remember the name but it starts with an L but since bought out by Modine.

Mine did the same thing recently. I had it inspected by Pacific Oil Cooler Service in La Verne, CA. They build and repair vintage aircraft oil coolers and well as manufacture 356 oil coolers from scratch.

They inspected mine for free and determined it was too corroded to repair and recommended I buy a new one since they would charge more than that to repair mine.

I bought one from Sunset Porsche with a new thermostat and all is right with the world. The hardest part of the job was removing and reinstalling the bumper cover.

PS: If you haven't replaced the oil fan and air conditioner fan resistors this is the time to do it.

It's not a bad idea after 20 years to have the oil cooler professionally cleaned. It will improve performance.
