Default Talk me off the ledge.

I've been contemplating selling my 993 lately. I don't use it a lot as I don't drive to work, and my wife and I both have new daily drivers (Lexus NX for her, S3 for me). We both have street bikes, and I'd love to get back into dirt biking after being our for approx. 4 years from a shoulder separation. I love my 993, and it's been my dream car since high school when it came out, but I don't get to drive it a lot, and people who can work on it are somewhat scarce, or $$$ around here. Am I crazy to consider letting go of the 993?

You won't realize how much you miss it 'till it's gone. Once it's gone - it's gone.

I think we all have those thoughts with GREAT cars and that's usually the cue to show 'em some love and go and drive them. Go drive it for a weekend up in the hills and you'll fall back in love.

Thing is I only get to drive it 5- 6 months out of the year. Otherwise it's in winter storage.

Often selling these cars is an emotional decision. I remember the last owner not wanting to drive it the day of the transfer because it would remind him how special it was. Now that I am selling it myself I understand why.

My 97 C4S is on autotrader.ca with a line up of buyers waiting for the PPI to be done on Monday. I haven't driven it for a few weeks (makes it easier to sell). I bought a cheaper replacement that I can autoX and drive around without worrying so much about values. (Having a replacement makes the decision easier.)

I drove the car in the sunshine today and had a kid in a Honda Prelude chase me down in traffic just to get a closer look. The sounds, the interior, the cornering and the looks. It is hard to let this car go. I know I will never have a 993 C4S again but there will be other cars.

Yes. I think you'll just need to drive it. It's warming up and maybe you need a new shift **** or wheels? 😜 You'll be back to normal soon!

I think if you have to ask, then you're better off keeping the car otherwise you'll regret it. You're not convinced enough yourself to sell it so asking others on here to make a decision for you really won't work because we're not emotionally attached to your car

Let it go and you'll never be able to afford another 911. Another p-car maybe such as a 996 but not a 993!

You know that how?

Pretty presumptuous.

Also, the market on these things may tank.

Op, sell the thing. If you miss it do muxh, buy another later when you're ready

An interesting survey might be how many people slightly - moderately - deeply regret selling their 993? I would say I have some regret on selling every Porsche I have every owned. I always feel like I'm selling off the family pet or something. I truly believe they are meant to be driver hard and really exercised. Having out in the garage is like putting your dog in a kennel.

Quadcammer! Hey buddy. True - the market MAY tank but these cars are like vintage pre-war (a time of change in construction, not unlike Porsche's change to water-cooled engines) Martin Guitars and Rolex watches. Each piece is attached to something historically unique and to days gone by of impeccable craftsmanship. Historically there can be some blips but over time they rise in value. Check out the attached 42 Guitar Index graft. We've got our peak in the 08-09, followed by a crash but nothing that broke the long term historical trend. Those of you guitar players know that some of these instruments are now over 100 years old, still playable and with a sound to die for. Similar situation to the last of the hand-built, air-cooled 993? Me thinketh so...

And all this being said, the OP can sell his car and pick one up later, albeit for a price that may be higher. But he'll be buying with inflated dollars as well so WTF right?
