Talk me off the ledge.
I've been contemplating selling my 993 lately. I don't use it a lot as I don't drive to work, and my wife and I both have new daily drivers (Lexus NX for her, S3 for me). We both have street bikes, and I'd love to get back into dirt biking after being our for approx. 4 years from a shoulder separation. I love my 993, and it's been my dream car since high school when it came out, but I don't get to drive it a lot, and people who can work on it are somewhat scarce, or $$$ around here. Am I crazy to consider letting go of the 993?

I think we all have those thoughts with GREAT cars and that's usually the cue to show 'em some love and go and drive them. Go drive it for a weekend up in the hills and you'll fall back in love.

Often selling these cars is an emotional decision. I remember the last owner not wanting to drive it the day of the transfer because it would remind him how special it was. Now that I am selling it myself I understand why.
My 97 C4S is on autotrader.ca with a line up of buyers waiting for the PPI to be done on Monday. I haven't driven it for a few weeks (makes it easier to sell). I bought a cheaper replacement that I can autoX and drive around without worrying so much about values. (Having a replacement makes the decision easier.)
I drove the car in the sunshine today and had a kid in a Honda Prelude chase me down in traffic just to get a closer look. The sounds, the interior, the cornering and the looks. It is hard to let this car go. I know I will never have a 993 C4S again but there will be other cars.

I think if you have to ask, then you're better off keeping the car otherwise you'll regret it. You're not convinced enough yourself to sell it so asking others on here to make a decision for you really won't work because we're not emotionally attached to your car

An interesting survey might be how many people slightly - moderately - deeply regret selling their 993? I would say I have some regret on selling every Porsche I have every owned. I always feel like I'm selling off the family pet or something. I truly believe they are meant to be driver hard and really exercised. Having out in the garage is like putting your dog in a kennel.

And all this being said, the OP can sell his car and pick one up later, albeit for a price that may be higher. But he'll be buying with inflated dollars as well so WTF right?
