Thanks, Udo!
Maybe not Porsche AG, but RUF was listening when RLer Fox 3 recently asked,
"Could Porsche Build a Car Like a 993 if They Wanted To?"
+993 x 2016 ^^
From evo.co.uk's "RUF presents 200mph sports car range in Geneva:"
The world's best-known fast Porsche builder has revealed its latest range at the Geneva motor show.
RUF Turbo R Limited – we’re into serious supercar territory with a 993 body, 612bhp at 6800rpm and – if you suspect such things might prove troublesome with traction – the option of all-wheel drive.
Top speed? 211mph.

Drifting
I'm having trouble comprehending what it would be like to drive a 993 with more than double the HP that my lowly C2 puts out given the same (we'll almost the same NB vs. WB) wheel base and traction. I am pretty sure it would get my adrenaline pumping though...

Im pretty confused to say the least. It appears as if RUF is now in the Singer business! I prefer the less re-engineered version with the altered wheelbase and water cooled engine. But it looks like RUF is rewinding the clock and concentrating on its air cooled past now with all models based on the 993? Note the wiper placement...

At the Geneva show, Ruf presented an all new car (Tangerine car). It's based on a highly modified 993 chassis (not a 964 chassis as stated in the article) with extended wheelbase by 70mm (50mm rear, 20mm front) bringing it to the same as a 997. When you see it in person, the new longer wheelbase looks natural and looks better proportioned than the original shorter wheelbase. Overall length is unchanged and remains the same as a G model or 964. Body design is inspired by the original Ruf CTR1. Body has extensive use of carbon fiber with optional roof structure in carbon as well. Of note is the engine isn't air-cooled. It is in fact the Mezger water-cooled GT3 unit enlarged to 4.2 liters normally aspirated, 525hp. Gearbox is also the 6-speed manual GT3 based. This is really the best of all worlds, the latest technology in the more compact traditional body. A totally analog super car you can use every day. Tangerine car is the big story. Truly a wolf in sheep's clothing!
