Default Öhlins suspension for a 993, do they exist? If not what else?

I'm looking at buying some new dampers for the 993 and was thinking KW Variant 3 but a friend who has a 996 said look at Öhlins as they are, and I quote, "better and cheaper". This may be the case for 996s but I can't see to find any for a 993??

Do they exist? Where can I buy some in the UK?

Gentlemen, the floor is yours.

Ohlins do not exist for the 993.
Look at MCS (former Moton guy).
Top notch quality if looking for upper end suspension.

What he said. Talk to Rennsport Steve about MCS. Anything but cheap, but awesome.

from my 997 experience i agree MCS/Moton are tremendous... megabux but worth every penny
jrz close second, in the same class for sure
from my lotus experience ohlins are very very very good, also in the same class, nitrons a notch below
kw/bilstein are below all those above

Law of diminishing returns applies here. With enough dollars, you could theoretically approach any manufacturer and have them build what you want.

Porsche Club Sweden was invited to Öhlins yesterday evening. R&D did speak an hour about damper technology and what is important developing a GOOD damper. What a cool engineering company!
We also visited the production lines. Craftsmanship paired with lean production.
No, I do not work there but I wish I did :-)

As both 964 and 993 owners attended the event the question about Road&Track kits for the cars where asked. The answer was that Öhlins are at the testing stage of the factory Road&Track DFV kits. Fine-tuning during summer 2016 and then production. I would guess this means the will be available late 2016.

I have a Bilstein kit on my 993 and it works ok. But now I can’t wait ……… ;-)

The MCS guy is Lex Carson and he was also at JRZ. MCS for US market are machined in Holland and assembled in Georgia. Don't know about RoW.

First step, call Steve Weiner, Huge Rennlist Supporter...he is a long time MCS dealer and he knows his stuff. He hooked me up with a set of MCS 3 ways as well as a set of H&R springs, 700# front 900# rear. Awesome on the track....don't drive that much on the street..but my 993 seems a bit like a 2004 GT3 on the street, stiff, but livable. Also note, these MCS front struts need 993 RS front wheel carriers to work their best.

Ohlins make incredible shocks, and it would be amazing if they bring our a product of the 993/964's. However don't expect them to be cheap, they are among some of the best shocks in the world. 2 way for 997's run north of $9,000 and north of $13,500 for the 4 way.

The MCS are great shocks, the Ohlins arguably are better.

They already announced availability for 964's last year.

I'd love to see the argument as to the superiority of the Ohlins over MCS.

Have a look at what the race cars at the pointy end of most race series in Europe are using. Ohlins shock absorbers have been on more winning race cars than MCS.

Have a look what shocks were on the Audis entries in Lemans since 2001, or the winners of the British touring car championship, or MotoGP, or Aussie V8 Super Cars, or Montoya's Indy 500 Win, or numerous WRC Championships, or Tony Stewarts nascar wins....
