In VA we have a yellow "Don't Tread on me" themed plate. I would put. SLICKS as the plate number mounted on a speed yellow 993.

if TX wasn't ridiculous about the cost for a vanity plate, my C4S would probably be running DEMHIPS

I don't get the "custom plates mean your vain" camp of though. I see it as another fun way to personalize and customize the car that you have pride in owning... and the mod is completely reversible for those that worry about that stuff.
Here is what I ended up with. No copy!

Standard CA issue plates for me. Got over the personalized thing back in the '80s.
(Had a fake NV--had a 2nd home in Reno at the time--plate "AMERICA" for the RS America race car. You wouldn't believe how many people asked how I scored it.)

PORNSCHE Saw that on a Youtube video last week.
If someone customizes their paint job or puts aftermarket wheels on their car, you might as well customize your license plate. Easily reversible and makes your car just a little bit more unique.

My response above was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, not critical. I really don't have a problem with vanity plates. To each their own.
Unrelated to the Op's initial post, I do wonder about women, especially young girls, riding around in cars with their first name as part of a vanity plate. Having a daughter and four granddaughters, I wouldn't want any of them advertising their name in a parking lot or parking deck for any lurker get close to them by calling their name.
