I am replacing a torn outer axle boots and finished a driver side on 97 993 C2 Tip. This is a messy job. But that's not a hard part with a lots of cleaner and job towels. The hard part is installing the complete axle assembly without removing wheel carrier completely. I usually like everything about my 993 Tip but I must say I am at least frustrated how little room available to manipulate the complete assembly as a DIY. I removed all control arms but the parking brake line.
I still have to do a passenger side!
