New headlight glass and idle issue resolution.
Couple things sorted out today:
1) Car was stalling on deceleration, and finally wouldnt restart. Replaced the DME w/ the ftech9 solid-state DME, problem solved.
2) Got a decent deal on new headlight lenses ($67 each), finally got round to installing them.
Before starting work.
Guess which is which...
Left (old), right (replaced)
Old: chipped, yellow and foggy.
New... oooh shiny!
3) Also installed the rennsport sticker. Nice touch making it apply inside the glass.
Rennsport reunion sticker installed on the Carbone 911r plexi qtr's.
Super easy to get apart.... quite surprised actually.

I store 3 of my cars for 6+ months a year and haven't used Stabil, well, ever. Not a problem. The modern fuel appears to be pretty good at staying together and not separating or sucking in water. Oh, at least one car lives 200 ft from the Atlantic ocean when stored.

What did I do w/ my 993 today? I took it out for a nice drive along the coast here in SoCal @ 6:45 am! I love driving at this time of the morning because of the light traffic. I've had my 993 for 15 years now, and I still get excited to drive it whenever I can.

The facts as I understand them, is that not all fuel formulations are the same throughout the country. Just like pricing...

Went for a early morning drive to Alice's and Pescadero. Beautiful fire red sunrise!
Morimotos with the Tore HIDs are a great combo for these early morning runs.

Probably true. But I haven't really heard of any issues with gas "going bad", as they used to say in the last 20+ years, so I don't use Stabil in Boston or Miami myself.

Today it's wrapping up the complete cleaning and upgrades on headlights and position/fog lights, which is something I've been wanting to do for 3 or 4 years. Got Tore's HID kit for Christmas and had some down time to fiddle with it. Popped the glass off the fog lights, cleaned everything and spray painted the inside of the housing with "chrome" paint. Tore's kit includes the LED position bulb to match the color of the headlight (4300K), so that is changed out. Also cleaned the inside of the headlight lenses (surprised how dingy they were) and soaked the yellowed inserts in peroxide to get it clear again. An easy and enjoyable project that stretched out to three days to allow time for paint to dry, glue to set and get the inserts clear.
Cleaning and painting alone was a world of difference, and the light bulb upgrade is fantastic!
