Default Wheel Sizes/Offset for my NB 993

Hola guys,

It's only been like 7 years since I last posted here, but I sold my first 993 back in 2008 and only recently got back on the horse with another. (no Porsche Pun intended).

Anyway....I bought a '96 NB 993 Coupe from a guy that got it from another fellow rennlister [@Bruce SEA 993] used to own.

So...I'm happy to be driving it as my daily driver again and I'm considering a set of wheels I've found that are an abnormal size.

The question is....will they fit my car?

17"x11+20 rear
17"X9.5+30 front

Anyone care to weigh in here? (yes I searched and came out more confused).

Help?

Offsets for a NB 993 are (EDIT) 52 (What B. Verburg said) and 65 respectively F & R, +/- a few mm. So no way, no how.

NB offsets are as suggested above with some wiggle room but no way in hell with those specs.

front would stick out about 40mm on the outside an rear would stick out about 50mm+

You can play with offsets and rim widths here:

PRSWILL....Good point and duh. I have a Ferrari 308 here in the shop today and I think my brain is scrambled from a fairly major blow to the head from a bicycle off I had on Xmas day.

Thanks all for the education. I'll admit that I've never once considered buying aftermarket wheels so offset and sizing is something I've never taken the time to learn. Education is key here.

Alan ... a bit off topic ... I'm the one who bought your car in 2008 ... it is running great ... we live in Colorado now ... lot's of room to run ... :-)

It is still a GREAT car ... Colorado is a perfect place for it ... 90% of the time. About the only time I don't drive it is when there is snow on the ground. Over the years I've done a few things to it, the suspension, some shifter work, tweaked the exhaust and added a chip. There is a 993 guru who used to have a shop locally, he helped me set it up for my driving. It isn't a GT3 but it feels like it to me.

Your post was timely ... I've often considered getting a new set of wheels ...

I love your website ... it looks like your shop has done very well congratulations.

Enjoy your holidays ... Gerry

Official ruling on the "pun" in question: There is a prancing horse dead center in the Porsche logo..... Pun still stands!
