Well...not only can we blame the French on their untenable position at the Treaty of Versailles, they also had a hand in the premature death of Ferdinand. I'm sure there are plenty of good Frenchmen...way OT, sorry!

Part of the mystiqe of owning a Porsche for me is all of the interesting history behind the car.
Did the history channel talk about the lengths that Ferry went to try to get Ferdinand out of captivity?
Did they discuss the significance of the Auto Union that Ferdi designed? Waaaaay ahead of its time.
I bet the Rennlister Cisitalia would be familiar with it.
I hope that it repeats, as I would love to watch it <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

No doubt, David - lots of neat stuff on there. As far as rescuing Ferdinand, all I caught was that Ferry paid, with his sister, 1000000 marks.

I believe that Ferry got the funds from his design of the Cisitalia race car for the Italians. It was much like a small Auto Union.
It all seems to revolve around GREAT automobiles...
