Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
Does anyone have any feedback on these tires? Afaik, they have never been mentioned in this forum. They will be standard on Porsche GT2 & GT3 models, BMW Alpina Z8, Chrysler Crossfire and McLaren SLR.
Look pretty good, and available so far in: 225/45YR17 225/40YR18 XL 235/40YR18 295/30YR18 (plus 19 and 20" sizes) http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires..._ps2_ci2_l.jpg |
does it come in a 17 inch rear tire?

EDIT: so far I have found the following sizes listed on reifen.de :

They are being installed on the GT3, GT2 and Carrera GT so far but hopefully, they'll make it on all P-cars. The GT3 I drove had them and they felt great. The best street tire I've ever driven on.

Viken, thanks you have made my choice a little clearer
Prices aren't too bad. (I'm just sharing these to help others get a better deal, or vice versa :) ) From reifendirekt.de : Pilot SPORT PS2 235/40 R18 - 237.40 euro (or $240 tire rack) Pilot SPORT PS2 265/35 ZR18 - 284.90 euro Pilot SPORT PS2 275/35 ZR18 - 296.80 euro |
any experience in pireilli pzero CORSA?
ive been told they actually better the pilot sport cups in the wet and are similar in the dry! i personally use pilots sports but was looking to better my track times a little... any experience and feedback appreciated cheers |
No 285 in the 18's?
|
No 285/30s? What of us 993 4S and TT guys??
|
Not all the sizes are available yet. I am pretty certain a 285/30 will also be offered sooner than later.
Also, the Pilot Sport 2 is NOT an R-compound tire and should not be compared with the Pilot Sport Cup and/or the PZero Corsa. |

Just noticed that there are two 235s. Any reason why that is so?
235/40 R18 91Y 235/40 R18 95Y |
I put them on a couple of months ago. Since then I have run the in one autocross and last week at the Streets of Willow, a fast shifter cart track.
I previously had 225/295 Bridgestone SO2s. I went to 235/295 PS2s, as my wheels are 9 and 11 x 18s. These fit the wheels a lot better. They ride a bit better. They are MUCH quieter on the road, without the low speed rumble of the SO2s. Handling is drastically improved. The car tracks very smoothly, with no sudden brake-aways. They maintain their grip when really hot. I am very impressed. They are expensive, but worth it. Hopefully they will last longer than the SO2s as well. |
I have the PS2s on my 987S. They grip very well at the track, but they require a LOT of negative camber at the front. The 987S cannot achieve much more -1.5 degrees. The outside shoulder is destroyed completely before 2 days of DE pass. No, I'm not understeering through all the corners. I have had to replace them after each of the 3 DEs I did last year. I even had to leave Ohio early because the brand new tires were worn to the cords at the outside edge. The rest of the tread, of course, was fine. I'm personally switching to Bridgestone. Incidentally, anyone know if an '07 987S with 19" wheels can take 275/35R19s rather than the stock 265/35R19s? I am guessing the 10mm increase is not enough to make a difference, but I'd feel better knowing someone has done this already. -Dan

I've had these on another car, and LOVE them! (But like any street tire, they are not meant for track use!)
I bought a set for my 993 (225/45-17 and 255/40-17), but haven't mounted them yet (still running snows!). There are about 75 different sizes available, see chart with all sizes here: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...irePageLocQty= . |
