Would you trade your 993 for a F355?

Drifting
I owned a 360 was not very exiting. Not as exiting as the 355. I'm sorry but you being on the *** of a 355 means nothing. Maybe you were the better driver. Same driver the 355 will win. I agree the with the 993tt will leave the 355 statement. The 993tt is faster. But as stated the 993tt is much more $$$$. Run the production numbers. My guess is the 355 will be worth as much as a 993tt one day.
The 993 numbers are 1 sec off. That can easily be made up in handling difference.
Production numbers are only part of the pricing variable. How many C4's have been made?
US Production numbers: 3,717 F355 ....2300 993 C4s ...1909 993TT...993 Targa 1200 .
I like my targa numbers, but I'm a realist.

Even considering straight line performance, and depending on which source you believe for 0-60, and 0-100 times, the ferrari is at best 0.5 seconds faster to 60 than a post-'95 993. The ferrari's are high HP, but torque is kind of low for a V8 (high rev). I'm in the camp of of not having the pleasure to drive a 355 yet, but I can see how a 993 could keep up on the track.
Plus OP came to the 993 forum to ask this question, youre going to have to weed through all types of fanboy affiliation. Not sure what you were expecting.

Indeed, All very dated by todays standards.
But at some point i think these car will bounce back in terms of style appreciation.
There are some lines on the 355 that are really nice. The rear window for example is really eye catching.

Glad someone chimed in about the 360 ...I forgot about that, yikes! The 355 is beautiful, to be sure. But the 360 lines are, arguably, quintessential Ferrari ...IMHO. That the 360 gets better props for reliability is a considerable plus (but that's OT as the OP is asking about the 355)
Like others, I had done this P vs F comparo (though not with the 355). Sure, go ask F-chat; don't take any one source as gospel. But anyone serious about this would also do well to look at parts prices, especially for we dirty-nailed DIYer wrenchers. That delta, alone, was, um, sobering.

However they perfected it with the 430 and the easier to own engine. Which also happens to be the last of their manual transmissions.

I would...
When I was buying my 355 I was also looking for 993.
The 355>993 no question.
Sorry but it is so.
This is perfect timing to replace your 993 with a 355.
That said,,, I am dying to buy a 993 or 964 now that I have a 355.
The 355 is more rare, faster, more attractive, screams like nothing else, the driving pleasure is amazing, and despite what people say it is rock solid.
Downside is the maintenance cost. The engine out is costly but it is worth it for sure.
Also, I'm sure in 10 years it'll be worth much more than it does now.
Just my 2 cents

I would add that the interior quality on the 355 is very poor with the leather dash pulling back, the leather seats wearing incredibly quickly and the fiat switchgear, well...no comment.
But having said that I want to pull the trigger!

I've not owned one but I've instructed a competent driver in his. To be honest, I expected more and was underwhelmed. In the real world, the lack of road clearance is a real issue. My across-the-street neighbor bought one and, when he tried to get it in his garage, he couldn't. I had to loan him a couple of long 2x12 boards to bridge the dip. "A Ferrari is like a beautiful Italian woman...Gorgeous body but very tempermental and high maintenance because there are so many moving parts."

Slow Sunday? Not like there aren't any number of ways to do an arm's length transaction......
But give me a _______ break on the track prowess of the two. Both are horrible, in today's world. You have to be a true enthusiast to trot out either. Back in the late '90s? You'd see a few being pounded. (Good friend stayed with his 348 as a track rat, and it had 120-130K miles on it when he moved onto a 430 Strad.) Most were sold off when the next greatest thing came out.
As far as the car meet attention ***** phenomenon--the 996 Turbo got a stupid amount of lookers yesterday at Canepa's. Mainly because part of the ~$40K thrown at it to make it a "Ruf" included a hood badge and a deck lid decal.

You pretty much killed any possible credibility you may have had with this statement.
I own and service/repair both cars (the F355, a 95 Berlinetta).
The 355 is more of a one trick pony. It's has a glorious engine. If one could fit the 355 engine to a 993 it would pretty much be perfect. The 355 is also very pretty.
However, the 993 is much better built and manufactured with much better materials. The 355 suspension is ALL steel, it has heavy fiberglass bumpers, sticky prone interior bits, crappy shrinking leather etc. Not top flight stuff.
The steering of the 355 pales in comparison to 993 (c2) steering. It doesn't shift as well either. Also, it's not nearly as agile or tossable as a NB 2wd 993.
Ironically though, the 355's a/c is better than 993 a/c.
In the end they are both great cars and I like having both, but the 355 is hardly better in every department.

So no I wouldn't do it. Owning a Fcar would be cool but personally I don't want hassles and I like my cars perfect and ready to go (on a long road trip) at moments notice. I would kill myself sourcing replacement sticky interior bits or worried about leaving on a 500 mile road trip in a Ferrari.

Easy, buy some goo gone, fine gritt sand paper and a can of spray paint. There is a long write up on it. If you are interested I'll find it for you.
I had few pieces that I have done which worked out nicely.
