Hi everybody,

I have zero, none, nada, zilch, experience in removing and installing car stereos & speakers. I'm putting together my list of items to order from Tore and figured I'd check in with the brain trust so that I don't miss a critical piece, given the shipping time.

I have a 1995 C4, 90k miles, daily-driver condition. My goal is to maintain it in daily-driver, stock condition, replacing parts as needed with modern parts that maintain the stock look/feel/condition. Currently have some ugly aftermarket Pioneer radio. (Car is in storage, I don't have the model number handy). My car has the M490 Nokia Hi-Fi option.

I want to install the CONTINENTAL CDD7416 radio:

https://www.bergvillfx.com/index.php...7416ub-or.html

To do so, I will also need this harness ISO AUDIO/POWER HARNESS PORSCHE 996/BOXSTER M490:

https://www.bergvillfx.com/index.php...ster-m490.html

Is there anything else I need to have on hand for this job?

At some point in the future, I will replace the speakers as well. It looks like there are a fair amount of options for replacing the speakers. Would this set work as a replacement?

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_136C55...io-C5-525.html

Are there any significant reasons to replace all the speakers as I replace the radio?

Thanks in advance for your comments and help!

If you are in the Twin Cities, send me a PM. I've done this installation and can show you an example and go over the procedure.

I've been doing a similar installation with Continental 7412 using Tores cables and have a question. For speakers I'm planning JL Audio 525 for the low frequencies and the JL tweeters for high frequencies and Dynaudio for the mid range. Do I need 3 way crossovers or are the supplied 2 way crossovers adequate? It seems most of the installations I see use the 2 way but is that optimal? Thanks from an audio neophyte.

I noticed that in some of the pics on Tore's web site the radio says Porsche instead of Continental.
How do I source the 7418 that says Porsche?

Is this still the best alternative to upgrade from the CDR-210?

Thanks,
Dave

Simple: You buy the PORSCHE decal from Tore, like I did. It is a nice touch.

And yes, IMO, it is the best upgrade considering its looks, features, and price.

Sandia man,

If you have "full-range" audio output signals for the LF and RF channels to the doors behind the panels, then 3-way crossovers would be the better solution for you, IMO.

Thank you, that seems to be a better solution to protect the tweeters unless there is some built in protection for the tweeters.

Received my 7416 Connie this week. I think I have things figured out. Except what to do with the antenna remote wire that is bundled with the antenna lead? I know Tore's instructions say it goes to ISO A5 pin, but how do I get it there, with the harness plugged in? Thanks for the help!

I installed mine 2 weeks ago. I remember the antenna remote wire attached to the original harness which is then attached to Tore's harness is all you need as Tore's harness directs it to A5 pin. Mine is working well.

red67vert, could you take a picture of the wiring, and I'll be able to advice.
Cheers,
Tore

Thanks 911m5, I did not see that lead coming out of the factory harness. It was not connected in the prior installation.

So where did you locate the mic ? Looking for innovative places to put
the mic, or are you just using the built-in one? Pics would be nice. How'd you fish the wire? Thanks!!
