Thanks for sharing. Of the options mentioned, the PCA one in black looks nice.

I'm still frameless for now... but looking!

Default License plate 'frames' - what's your preference?

I have the original Niello Porsche frame on my car. It is kind of cool because it shows Sacramento which was their former location (now in Rocklin) and I also happen to have some of the Niello specific marketing materials back from 1997 when my car was being sold. It is actually one of the, if not the, longest standing dealers in the country. Kind of cool part of the history of the car I think. My wife doesn't like it because we live in Orange County not Sacramento and always get questions around when we moved here.

BLACK FOREST

Frame is looking a bit dull right now, but I happened to be by BF just today and ran into owner John Rickard, who fixed me right up with 2 brand new ones. So as soon as I get back into the garage, she'll have a brand new plate frame again.

Can't say enough good things about John and Black Forest. Huge supporters of PCA here in SD, perennial sponsors of our Performance Driving School, awesome mechanics, easy to work with and all around good people. (No affiliation other than very satisfied customer and fellow PCA member.)

Default "993" frame

Keith-- From my too-short time around San Diegans, I've heard nothing but good about Black Forest ^^
Enjoyed meeting John at an SDR event

Sounds cool, Matt, & definitely a meaningful tie to its history ^^

Plain and simple Euro style black plastic frames, held on with concealed stainless steel screws. No worries about rust or pitting of the frames or screws and they are inexpensive.

I spaced my license plate frame out from the bumper cap using the spacers used on 993 Turbo part number 993.707.805.00 Why spacer is only for Turbo and Turbo look, go figure.

This spacing allowed me to install metric rivet nuts into the stock frame's square holes (for the nylon tapping nuts) and thus use stainless button head machine screws instead of self tapping screws. One could also use countersunk screws and aluminum finishing washers.

Gotta say I like Speedy's frame, BUT here is a different look (yellow is not perfect Ruf yellow, but the considering where it was produced, not bad.

Find a clean black frame that you like. Print out the 'ANDIAL' logo, take it to a sign shop, have them cut the letters in white vinyl, then apply the decal to your frame. Straight.

Presto.

I happen to have a Speed Yellow car and in Virginia, where I live, the DMV offers a Speed Yellow matching license plate with a black "Don't Tread on Me" snake graphic. How cool is that? No frame required edges just match the car.

I was on our local Porsche club trip to British Columbia and needed Pentosin power steering fluid and stopped by Speedway Motors in Victoria. Parts guy was very helpful with my issue and also another member of our group who needed a fuel level sending unit gasket.
He gave me a license plate frame and I still display it proudly.

Let me know if you find anyone to make a small run. I've been trying to have an early 50's frame reproduced but I haven't been able to find anyone yet.

I have a vintage DeMaria Porsche tag frame on my 993TT. They were the original Miami Porsche dealer prior to the Collection and operated in the same general location.
