Default RS Carpet install question (yes i searched)

Im getting the last bits of glue off the floor and hope to be installing the carpet in the next few days. I have read several write ups and have not found a few specific answers im looking for. The carpet is the appbiz lightweight perlon. Rear seats, shelf, wheel arch covers are all being left out. The center console is most likely being left out and I am considering removing the lower dash as well.

Where do you route these wires? Mostly its the bulky connector that i dont want to see throigh the carpet. I planned to route the wires along an indent and tape them in place.

The clips that held the rear parcel and trim panel on. I dont need them, id rather not see them through the carpet or cut the carpet around them. I dont really dont want to remove them but i think thats how its going to have to be. What did the factory rs do?

Rear wheel arch/quarter trim panel clip. Same deal, dont want to see them through the carpet, dont want to cut the carpet around them. Looks like removing them is the only option.

Interior vent, usually hidden in the quarter trim panel. No mention of these in any other post that I read. I dont want to see them. What did the rs do? Is there a different piece, did they just seal off the hole?

Last one. If i keep the lower dash, Id still like to remove this brace and the obd connector clip. Is this brace needed to hold the center dash or did it serve another purpose? Can the brace be removed and keep the lower dash?

Presumably you are retaining the sunroof and rear window heating.

You can unwrap the tape of the harness back to where it originates from the main harness going along the side of the car to separate the sunroof, overhead lamp and rear window heat wires from the radio speaker wires.

You can retape the wires with hockey stick tape to look OEM from a sporting good story if you are so inclined. The factory used Teso brand tape.

Then run those wires up the right side of car in the corner where they can be covered by carpet. Run the radio wires transversely along the bottom of the bulkhead in the bend there where they can be covered with carpet.

There is a foam plug that goes in the recess in the center of the rear bulkhead on an RS that can be bought at the dealer. Part number ? to me at moment. Also, if you want to do a primo job you should remove all the brackets you show that are spot welded to the bulkhead, rear seat area and sides below quarter windows like Porsche did in an RS to allow the carpet to lie flat. Use a spot weld cutter to do this, the ones from Harbor Freight work just fine for this.

Thanks for the response. I was not aware of the foam pad for the center, I had planned to make my own. The contours on the top portion, rear shelf i had planned on using a lightweight dynamat type product to achieve a flat surface. I have the PET catalog, ill look for the part and see if its still available.

Any idea on the cabin vents in the second to last picture?

The foam piece I THINK is 964.556.239.02 and shown in the 964 parts book section 807-15. As i recall expensive, I think I paid around $120, it now lists for $175 but can be had for around $145.

The vents were covered by a carpeted plastic box in the RS that covered the vent as well as the seat belt reel. I don't know part number off hand. Also expensive, as in very.

Since I have no seat belt reels in my car and would like the vents, I am going to simply cover the vent plastic pieces with carpet and reinstall. They are out of the way and not seen behind seat very well anyway.

These people make a copy scroll down to bottom of page http://www.southbound.plus.com/south...8fitted%29.htm

They were used for RS America too I believe, I don't have any shots of them.

^^^Holy crap, thx for that. I've been putting off making my own RS pieces for years, as I just want to do the 2 rear side pieces to make putting the DAS rollbar in and out easier.

I'll get those and the RS seat belt boxes.
