Chuck A. posted on this forum about the Sears alum jack on 9/25/03, so go back a couple of days. In brief, the Sears jack is a 2-ton speedy lift jack weighing 44#. Height range is 3.75" to 18.5". Model #50239. I've seen the price at $180 and at $162. It's an online catalog exclusive, and the site address is given on that thread. No risk with a Sears purchase.

The Sears jack is listed as a "Craftsman". Doesn't all Sears Craftsman branded products have a lifetime warrenty?

No, only the hand tools.

I went to Sears last night. Calling it an "aluminum" jack is misleading. I think only the handles and lift are made of it. The rest appears to be steel.

I am not going to buy one. There is no real weight savings.

Guys,

I did buy one of these Sears (Craftsman) aluminum jacks.

As Jim Michaels said, it is a 2-ton speedy lift jack weighing 44#. Height range is 3.75" to 18.5". Model #50239.

The price was $169.00 and it is an excellent quality jack. I tried it on my 993 this evening on the engine jack location and side jack points and it works slick. The jack has a very wide stance and lifts the car safetly from all locations.

It is a 100% aluminum jack (well, except for the hyd cyclinder). I checked this at the store.

I purchased the Sears jack as well and have already given it a pretty good workout including jacking up the back of my damaged race car and dragging it around on the jack. This jack is far superior to the Harbor Freight POS it's replacing. I just hope it lasts longer than the HF did.

I checked out 3 local Sears and they all were out of stock. So I ordered it and should be in next week. But what's with the price? Here in SoCal, it was listed for $199 then discounted to $179 for this week only, but no mention anywhere of $169. Oh well. Thanks JimB and Mike for your first-hand reviews!

Edward,

Sorry, I paid $179.00. I think the $169.00 is for some sort of "Tool Club" member at Sears.

It is a nice jack. I think you'd like it.

I actually paid $199 because the sale had not started yet but I'll stop buy for a refund this weekend. The "club" is the Craftsman club. It's not a bad deal ifyou buy a lot of tools. They frequently have discounts not available to others.

Thanks, guys. And thanks to the original poster to this (Craftsman) jack. My old POS jack has been on it's last leg for some time, but I've been balking on buying one of the good ones ...price and all, you know the drill. But this is a real find. Love this board!

Just bought one at my local Sears. They were out but ordered it for me, I will pick it up on Saturday. I brought in the ad others have mentioned and they honored the $161.99 price. Bought a metric set of those nifty ratcheting combination wrenches on sale for $34 too. Wish I had that when I cleaned out my ISV!
