I maybe wrong but looks like the sills are original C2S/turbo side sills.
So they are not just added on...the original steel sills have been replaced with the CS2/turbo steel sils. Requires cutting and welding. Ask me how I know...

Juha, the sills on this car are fibreglass and the original steel sills are behind them. You will see the original sills later on when the fibreglass ones are removed. I am further along with the build than the photo's are showing. It was only after a friend in England suggested last week that I should start a thread on the build that I decided to do so.

I apologise for the quality of the photo's in the first part of the build. I took them with my iPad. The later shots are taken with a compact digital camera.
This is the start of removing the carpet and glue. Some of the sound deadening had already been removed when the roll age was installed but all the glue was still there.
All the interior including the roll cage will be painted yellow.

I need the wheels and the front spoiler and I'll be 95% of the way there. The springs are brutal though, so I might go back to something softer....

I noticed on this board that most members that do the 993 Carrera to 993 GT2 (or RSR) conversion they omit to change the rear bumper to the turbo/GT2 wider & more muscular bumper...
If you go to all the trouble converting, why not change this as well to get 100% of the GT2/RSR look ???

MD993, as far as I know the RSR flares are not as wide as the GT2. The RSR is based on the narrow body and the GT2 is based on the wide body. I have got the RSR flares and it is not necessary to use GT2 bumpers.

Agreed, but what about 993 Carrera to GT2 conversion? Many site advertise the kit but without the rear bumper... Isn't this required to get 100% accurate look ?

I'm pretty sure to do a GT2 tribute right you have to start with a TT (or at the very least a C2S/C4S), which has a wider rear clip already.

You are right but C4S and Turbo that have wide body are 4WD and Carrera 2S is too valuable to convert to GT2... Would a wide turbo rear bumper fit the standard body Carrera with wheel arches? Is is possible to install wheel arches without cutting and drilling the fenders? It would be nice to do a GT2 look conversion that is fully reversible...

The RSR rear spoiler is different from the gt2, it's a cup one or RS club sport, the air inlets are really differents .
As the Rsr is developed from a 993 cup, the suspension were Blistein cup with 200 kg front springs and 240 kg rear. That maybe could fit a road car. Or 160 front and 200 rear .
It's very expensive to develop the 3.8 Rsr engine, there are so many race parts in it !
I will follow your job.

I had this great idea on how to get rid of the glue. I have a friend who cleans machinery with dry ice so I though I would get him to clean off the glue. I can tell you that it is not a good idea. It certainly removed the glue but........ it fired the glue all over the interior of the car which then doubled the amount of work I needed to do to get rid of it.
The only way to get rid of that tacky glue is with a lot of Xylene and lot of 'elbow grease'. Spray, wipe, spray, wipe etc. And make sure you use a respirator
