Default In a bind, need a suggestion

I was replacing the struts on my BMW when the spacer that goes at the bottom of the strut piston got kicked and lost, no where to be found:

(bottom right in photo)

It is a Koni strut, the piston is tapered at the bottom and this allows the bottom plate of the strut assembly to sit flat.

The piston has a chamfer that is tapered and this spacer goes on 1st before any other parts of the strut assembly.

Suggestions?

Many years ago when I did FSD on my 993, I lost the top nut (it was a winter project and it to Koni NA 3 weeks to get me another.

This car is a DD and I am in a bind.

you working in a garage?

if so, the washer has to be somewhere. Even if it takes hours to find, its probably easier than trying to find it elsewhere.

Agree with the others. It it there. Find it.

If it is gone, find someone with a lathe and have them make one matching the other side.

I know the feeling all too well. I've spent many fruitless hours looking for lost fasteners in my shop.

Although in the UK, this company sells replacement Koni parts. I'm sure there are companies in the US as well.

If its not aluminum (which it looks like it might be) try trolling with a magnet. I've found parts in plain sight this way. Old eyes. Also try vacuuming. You'll hear that going through the hose.

I've seen things that are vaguely round roll for distances that seem impossible. Not sure if you're focused on a certain area of the garage, but maybe expand. Under the car? Behind the feet/wheels of a cabinet, tool box? Its gotta be there.

Find an appropriately sized thick washer and relieve it with a countersink?

use a large magnalight type flashlight.put it on floor that is parallel to floor and roll it on the area you are searching. Also turn off all lights in the garage and do this in the dark so that only what is laying on the floor will have light on it. I hope my instructions are not clear as mud.
