Post Bicycle rack for a 95 C4 coupe?

Anybody got suggestions? Does Performance Products still sell one?

I just bought the Thule rack system with two "Big Mouth' bike holders. It works well and feels solid. Installing should be a two person job though...which I dislike a bit. But I have to expect that in a roof rack.
And they have different coloured skins that might match your car if you are lucky

Pelican also has a roof rack system that can handle all sorts of stuff. I have not used it nor do I have any relationship...yada yada yada....
Here is the link that might work.

Bike rack? For what? That would create a wind drag problem as well as additional weight. Make her follow you in the SUV for stuff like that man. If she refuses take your girlfriend... <img border="0" alt="[icon107]" title="" src="graemlins/icon107.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[icon501]" title="" src="graemlins/icon501.gif" />

The Thule racks work well. Be careful when putting them on though, the brackets can rub the paint slightly if not installed perfectly.

I get alot of strange looks when driving with my muddy mountainbike on top of my clean Porsche. I guess most people are used to seeing racks on SUV's.

Does anybody have experience with Performance Product's rack? The photo shows it on a 993, it appear to attach to the rear license plate frame and beneath the top edge of the engine lid. Sez it does not touch the paint and will hold two bikes behind the car. It's $200 ... much more reasonable than the Thule or Porsche's Tequipment roof racks, which are four times the price.

I'd prefer something that comes on and off easily as it will be only for occasional use.

Timely post as I just sold my beater Honda which was the transportation to bicycle races. Over the years I've had less than perfect experiences with off the back mounting systems such as the one above. One time driving back from San Diego to the Bay Area, the exhaust actually melted the tire. Luckily it was my friends bike ;-)

David 96 993, aren't you suppose to have a surfboard on top of the car?!?!

I hope to swing by a local rack shop this weekend for options. I'll keep you posted.

Thule Racks is the way to go! Our beauties have the old school rain gutters (just like on my old VW sqrback), and Thules clamp on just perfectly!

I throw on racks occassionally, and have a blast when I do - nothing cooler than a 993 coupe with a set of racks and mountain bikes, surf board, etc...
