Default Pano 993 GT2 and RS article.

Just thumbed through it and it seems like nice piece. Anyone else read it?

Wanna bet the SpeedYellow prices just went up? It was a good article and now it all seems doable to get these into the country. I just still need to solve the $$$$ part.

What is the change in legislation mentioned at the start of the piece?

I thought the cars had to be 25 years old or is more to do with a showcar classification?

Good that you are getting more real RS /GT2 on that side of the pond!

I can scan and post it if the Porsche police won't come after me. Any lawyers want to chime in?!

Please don't Jason. That would be a copyright violation. Panorama is the primary benefit of PCA membership and the club does not like to just give it away. It is disrespectful to the content creators AND members.

For those outside of the US/Canada, I believe foreign memberships are available. And the price is well worth it in my humble opinion, even if you only receive Panorama and a PCA decal for your membership fee.

PS... Wish I had a yellow 993

According to the article, today all cars coming into the US must meet DOT(such as ride height, door beams, headlights, some flashers were pointed out as examples in the article) and EPA standards. DOT rules apply for 25 years and EPA rules apply for 21years so this means that in most states one is free to import any car manufactured before 1991. Cars manufactured between 1991 and 1994 need only comply with DOT regulations and getting them to meet those regs if all the equipment wasn't on the car already can be expensive.

The major change is a new DOT categorization of cars for regulation - the "Show and Display" car. If you can write up a letter and fill out the appropriate forms to prove to the DOT that a car is rare and technologically significant, you may get that car approved for this new categorization. Imported cars must first be consigned to a Registered Importer(Im sure they charge massive fees which they need to to recoup the investment they must make in the tools to help with passing such things as EPA regs) to help with the federalization before being released to the customer. Once released, the owner must be able to provide documentation showing the car was driven no more than 2500 miles/yr. Some of the P-cars approved are - 964 Carrera RS, 993 Carrera RS and GT2, 996 GT3 RS and 997 Sport Classic.

Here is a teaser from the PCA website, which does not require membership for the summary,
only for the full digital edition https://www.pca.org/panorama/edition...-february-2015

Thank you for this, really appreciate it.

Many ROW Rennlisters prefer to strictly play by all the rules, but in some cases it is simply impossible in this global environment. I have tried to do the foreign membership for Panorama thrice, all to no avail.

This, despite the fact that in most Asian countries we pay Porsche tax in excess of 100% of what you pay in the U.S. (that is, Porsche prices for cars, accessories, and other are priced at double or more of U.S. prices).

Thank you again.
