Actually, having now watched the video, it's far less entertaining than a chess match & not worth the (T1) download time
However, I do appreciate Bill keeping us in the loop

I'm not interested in a SUV, but I did take a few minutes to download the 8.6 MB clip. Five minutes of video, and not a single clear shot of the car's exterior? Isn't it past time to let the cat out of the bag?

When I do go get my SUV this year it isn't going to be that. I'm not going to support Porsche in this joke. I'm gonna go out and buy me a Mercedes G Class! Now that's a SUV. (originally built for the army)

Flying Finn,
That's true, but I'm staying German and being practical. At least the G Class has a very very nice interior... nice enough to sleep in
If I got a hummer I'd have no where to park it here in the city

Save yourself around $20k over the G500 or $50k over the Hummer and get a Land Cruiser! Drive all three and you'll realize that the other two really are military vehicles gussied up and overprices. Basically expensive pigs with lipstick on...
Seriously, if you haven't test driven a Land Cruiser, do so. I've been driving SUVs for years and few can really compare to these outstanding vehicles. If you want to spend a bit more and get a few more luxury features, the Lexus LX470 is the Land Cruiser's fancier cousin.
Avoid the Hummer unless you're seriously going to be offroading. Look in the Dupont Registry to see how many of these things are for sale, mainly because they suck as daily drivers and no one really cares for them once the novelty wears off.

Cheers!

I agree that the Land Crusier is nice. Had one that I put 70,000 miles on. But when it came time to replace it, I bought a BMW X-5 which I am very pleased with. Much better on road than the LC and given my limited use off-road (mainly fire roads/forest service) it was an easy decision. Plus the mpg is much better. Unless you are into serious off-roading (in which case none of the vehicles mentioned here make much sense-too big), then, IMHO, for the money X-5 is the vehicle to look at. Be interesting to see if Porsche gets the Cayenne priced competively, in which case it could be interesting.

Michael,
Sorry you have a problem with Porsche information. This is a Porsche forum I do believe. As for advertising, well I don't recall seeing any advertising. Just passing along Porsche information.
You may not like the SUV concept but it this vehicle that will allow Porsche to continue building the Sports cars without it becoming a BMW, MB, or other manufactures sports car line.
I have seen the SUV and it is a Great looking vehicle which seems to very much maintain the Porsche esperience. You and some others may not agree with that but it does not make less so. There were many dealers at the preview and I heard much more very positive about what we saw and touched than I did negative comments. The Cayenne will be a true Porsche despite your proclaimation to the opposite. IMHO

Bill, you keep missing the point.
If you look at the frame on the left side of your browser window, you'll see that the Rennlist discussion board area offers many different forums. The reason there is more than one forum, is because Porsche makes more than one model of car. And the different forums are each focused on a particular model of car (and, to a lesser extent, to activities and subsystems - racing, wheels, etc).
One of the many forums available is called 'SUV'. That stands for 'Sport Utility Vehicle'. The Cayenne is an example of a 'Sport Utility Vehicle'. So, the SUV forum is the most appropriate place for postings about the Cayenne.
This forum is entitled, '993'. The Cayenne is not a 993.
As a valued Rennlist sponsor, I'm surprised you're having a hard time understanding this idea of multiple forums, each focused on a specific model.
Perhaps you can go to the 'Feedback' forum and suggest to John D. that he do away with all these artificial divisions and merge all posts into a single 'Porsche' forum. Or perhaps the 'General' forum would provide an acceptable substitute for you?
thanks,
RNH

Did not miss the point at all, but making available new information about a Porsche product is not violating any policy. If no one want the information then they will not respond and the post will die a lonely death in a very short time.
Like I mentioned in another post, providing the racing news about The Racers Group which we and Rennlist sponsored was not limited to the Racing Forum because it was simply providing new information about something of interest to many Porsche enthusiast that may not visit the Racing Forum daily.
The Cayenne is coming and will be a critical part of the continued success of PAG.

I don't know about violating policies; nor are you axe-murdering babies
I am confused, though, about why you're not even *cross-posting* to the SUV forum?!?
