Post Preventative Maintenance - Help!

I recently purchased a early model 993(about 6 mos. ago), a red-head that needed some TLC and while it was being detailed an irreverent soul or one stunned by her beauty bumped her nose. I am have the cone removed and sprayed next week. I am also having the rubber replaced. Anything else that I can do or check while the cone is off?

Additionally, I may be a good source for those of you with relationships that are charting into the higher mileage stages - I have 118K and never been more in love (my wife does not know about this site and if she did let the record reflect that I am obviously referring to her!). I purchased it with just under a 100K and have all the maintenance records.

Thumbs up

Glad to have you aboard.

Sounds to me like you "just got her broken in"

(I mean the car of course).

Double check your oil cooler and AC resistors. They have a high tendency to fail in early 993's, according to other rennlisters.

There is more info in the archives.

Great car!

Great call Jeff to replace the two resistors while the cover is off. Definately spend the $80 bucks for both and do it even if they look fine. Well worth the effort.

From one high miler to another...

These two links should give you some background:

Question

Perhaps this should be a new thread, but I am still confused as to the procedure to replace the oil cooler fan resistor after having reviewed the links to Robin's superb site. Is it necessery to pemove the bumper, or is it simply removing the two 10mm bolts as noted at the end of the link above to Robin's site?

Don,

I haven't actually done mine yet, but I know that I can reach it by removing the fender liner. Of course it would be easier with the bumper cover off... Its a no brainer when the cover is off...

I believe that on a wide-body car, you have to remove the front bumper cover, but you do not on the narrow-body cars (but it probably is easier). Robin's directions on removing the front cover are excellent, and will make even moe sense when you do actually it.
