Default Battery tender connection

I bought a CTek 3300 and Id like to hook it up but I am not sure which way works best.

I have the cigarette lighter adapter and could run it through that. To get it out of the car, I could run in between the door and sill or out the window. The car has a cover on it so the wire would be pressed against the door.

I could attach directly to the battery and then out through the hood. DO I just leave the hood partially open?

Thanks
Jim

I have the short lead permanently wired to the battery, and the leads are so thin you can connect it up and close the bonnet fully without issue.

Thanks, I was worried about the wires leaving an indent on the paint. This seems like the best option though.

This is exactly what I do...been working good for 15 years. The cable going to the battery tender box is basically lamp cord (mine is a Deltran)...so it is small enough to fit in between the hood and "bumper" without issue. Certainly be sure the cable is laying flat when you close the hood on it.

While the top of the cord will contact the underside/edge of the hood paint...the bottom side will only contact the long rubber trim piece at the top of the bumper...and that piece is very pliable (sp?)...so the pressure involved is pretty small.

As mentioned, close the hood. If you leave it open, the hood light may stay on which will draw more current than the tender can supply.

I have mine in plugged into the cigarette lighter and the cord comes out the bottom of the passenger door. I also have a cover, so the wire coming from the bottom of the door works great.

The hood light doesn't stay on if you close it enough to wear it latches but doesn't lock fully. I've kept mine this way for years and no problems.

I'm set up just like deekay911, and it works perfectly...cept for maybe if you forget to disconnect from the tender. BTW, I close my frunk when on charge. Those of you who do not do so, for whatever reason, might be a tad to retentive.

My Battery Tender takes a lickin and keeps on tickin! What a great product. Mine's at least 15 yrs old, and originally saw duty on my 996 Ducati superbike.

As mentioned, close the hood. If you leave it open, the hood light may stay on which will draw more current than the tender can supply.
This is why swapping out OEM lights for LED's makes so much sense! I did my cabin lights, frunk, engine bay, and glove box lights. The current draw is WAY less, should a door or bonnet be left ajar; making a dead battery far less likely. This is of course if the battery is not on its last legs to begin with.

Underhood, direct to battery. Run it out vertically on side of frunk at corner. If you leave your frunk ajar, the alarm may not work correctly. Yes, I set alarm in my garage. Just so I know which gun to grab

+ 993 Works great for quick plug and play right out the door, and there's no interference with the indoor car cover.

I have it wired to the battery, cabled out the frunk with microfiber towel wrapped around it. I use my finger to trigger the latch closed and then rest the hood on top the latch. After disconnecting the BT I do have to release the hoodlatch before I close the hood but it's no big deal, I can do that right there at the latch.

I use the cigarette lighter with the cord going out the top of the window. I hang a towel outside the window so that the cord doesn't come in contact with the door.

I use the OEM Porsche version in the cigarette lighter, but I haven't noticed the cord in contact with the paint. Nor am I worried about it, since I'm not sure how the cord could do any damage.

I only use the battery charger during the short winters we have here in the SF Bay Area.
