Post offer on 1996 carrera

I was just offered $40,000 +- $1000 for my 1996 carrera with lsd, abd,cd player, changer, fabspeed mufflers, the program chip. The car is black/tan 25,000 miles in excellent condition. Is this a good deal or should I hold out for more. The offer was made by a reputable independent high end car dealership that is known for marking up prices. If I were to take this deal I wouldn't be surprised to see them mark it up to close to $50,000. Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you need the money right now, I would never sell. <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" />

kim my e-mail is r.whaley@worldnet.att.net The car has dual power seats, cdr210 in dash and 10 disc silverstone changer in trunk. Car is in excellent condition a few rock chips on front no paintwork and warranty through april. The rear tires s02 have about 2000 miles on them front so2 tires have 5000 miles. All service records are documented. I can sell with the mods or take them out and put original back in. The wheels are in great shape no scratches or dings they are 17". I really don't know the true value it seems that some independent sales people and dealers are jumping all over the car for $40,000. Feel free to e-mail whenever. Trying to sell the car to make room for new m3,and new chevy suburban. Married now and need more pracyical vehicles(unfortunately).

Kim this car is not a c2 widebody just a standard carrera. If your friend wants a non biased opinion have him/her call powertech in Rockaway Nj I have the phone number in my office ask for Mike he has done the mods and some of the services on the car. They are a porsche only shop and Mike,Keith and Bob are fairly accomplished track guys.

If you are refering to High Marques, I know they ask much more than they buy them for (my friend has found them a few 993's over the last couple of years). Their mark-up could easily be $10K.

However, they will probably sell for the mid to high 40's.

I also know the guys at PowerTech (that's where I take my car). They are a great bunch of guys and also sell cars to their clients. I'd ask Mike what he thinks you could get for your car.

I'd hold out for a little more. I've been looking for a '96 (or so) cab for the past couple months, and the best prices for that mileage, options, and condition combo is several thousand higher. I know yours is a probably a coupe, but you could still probably hold out for a little more if you were patient and sold to a private party.

Good luck!

Mike at powertech thinks I might get around $50,000 for the car. I may have just sold it today to a friend of my fathers he wanted it for $45,000 I told him $48,500 and he can drive it out of the garage waiting to hear back sometime over the next few days.

Rob,

Those fabspeeds... Are they supercups or MaxFlo?

If supercups, I'd be interested in buying them before you sell the car (you'd get couple hundreds more for the car that way... )

Thanks!

I honestly would think the car is worth $50K based on what I've seen in the DC area. That's a very low mileage, attractively optioned and colored narrow body coupe. I'm biased though- I have a 96 narrow body with a few more options and a few less miles that I'd sure want at least 50- if not a lot more- for.

Wait till Spring then see what happens. Nothing like warm weather to bring out the sports car buyers.
