ok...I may be off track here, but here goes...
How about using a carnuba based wax to get the depth that one needs followed up by a polymer based wax for shine and durability. Would one then get the best of both worlds?
Just a thought...

Absolutely! My routine: Dawn wash
Clay
Dawn wash
Klasse AIO x2
Klasse SG x4 (24hrs apart)
S100(best priced high carnuaba wax available)
Pinnacle Crystal Mist Carnuaba QD after weekly wash

I only do the claying and Klasse twins yearly, the wax topper every month. Carnuaba wax gives deepest gloss but none are very durable. Carnuaba QD helps wax last longer as you are essentially laying down another micro layer after the wash.

Above routine gleaned from the Autopian gurus, it is said that Souveran Wax works best for dark colored cars. PS21 or S100(same but much cheaper if you can find it) recommended for light cars especially silver.

Porter Cable is necessary if you have significant spider webs or scratches which will become more obvious unless either buffeds out first or temporarily covered up with a filler glaze prior the the Klasse SG layers.
