I want to trade my 993 for cash!

But a MFI '74 would also do the trick!

It might be fair to OP to ask the question another way: It's fair to say that the general consensus is that a 1995 C2 is worth more than a 2003 C2. Air cooled cars are appreciating significantly and water cooled cars are not, which is just how it is. So: how much additional cash (serious) on top of the 996 would be required to trade it for your C2? That is, what is the perceived delta in value between a the two C2 versions?

Before I bought my 996 I looked at several 993s...some looked like money pits...from too many mods to a collision repair to just ratted out...some were just not colors I could live with...metalic ruby, adventurine green. And of course some were just overpriced.
As the froth settles out of the market and as anti-996 hysteria fades away, I'm sure a 993 owner and I will meet and make a mutually agreeable swap.

All prices are opinions of what a specific buyer is willing to pay. For me the current prices of most 993s are higher than I am willing to pay. Some a little higher and some a lot higher. And I think that 996 prices are softer than they will be in the next 6 to 8 months. Today $15k to $18k as a trade-in value seems about right (the reseller has to have a profit margin) for a car in good condition...with low to mid 20s for private party sales, mid to high 20s for indy dealers, and high 20s to low 30s for Porsche dealers. Of course this will also be based on the cars options and condition.
For 993s I see a lot of asking in the high 30s to low 40s...and selling in the mid 30s. There is only one 993 I would give a $10k bump on top of trading for my 996...and that is the 993 I used to own.

You can keep dreaming that a swap of a given 993 will be straight across with a given 996, special models aside. The 993 wasn't built in the numbers that 996's were. Then there is that styling and interior....
