Default New Member, New 993?

Long tim lurcher, finally pulled the plug on a membership. I just put a deposit down on a 1997 993 Cab and wanted to get opinions. The car was traded in at a dealership in Virginia by an older woman. It was he husbands car and he had passed away a couple of years ago. The car is tiptronic, arctic silver on black, 36000 miles, asking $33,900. I have been looking awhile and know if this were a 6-speed the car would price out much higher. Thoughts?

Seems strangely inexpensive if it's in decent condition. Nice find!

Where in VA is it? If a PPI checks out, it looks to be priced about right...low miles helps it and Tippy hurts it...so low 30's seems reasonable.

Can't go wrong there. PPI, yeah..........six guys will jump in ahead of you.

If you want a manual, take your profit from this one and get what you want.

Thanks guys, I have been looking for a couple of months and bam there is was online this morning. I plan to have Chapman AutoWerks perform the PPI on Monday. I have wanted a 993 for a long time and am very excited to find this car (although I would have preferred a manual).

Nice car at a good price. Excellent choice for your PPI, too. He has a great reputation for 993's and will tell it to you straight. Good luck.

I would get my hooks into it quick, if you really want it.
I'm with Ken re. PPI

I wouldn't be surprised if someone shows up over the weekend and buys it
tip of no, at those miles and that price, it will go fast

I would have that dealer do a couple of basic checks with you there
If no CEL and readiness codes are set, cool
Ask them to put a paint gauge on each panel

then buy it

good luck!

I am out of state, I put a deposit down on the car, it is sold. My salesman told me they have had people in interested in the car, they have turned them away. Salesman said no lights are on, starts right up. PPI on Monday. Any rec's for shipper?

X2 with the VA Dreamer. Mileage helps, tippy hurts. It's an oversimplification, but tippy or a cab may EACH warrant a 10% discount on resale in my estimation. The car is very fairly priced and looks to be a low mileage peach, you will be happy! But may I ask, if you really want a manual why buy a tip?

Foxman, while I would really like the manual the wife can't drive one. I would like for her to enjoy the car too. Right car, right time, right price.

The price of this car is right considering mileage and tranny, cab configuration has nothing to do with it. It would make no difference if it was a cab or a coupe, the price would pretty much be the same and there would certainly not be a 10% price difference. The buyer pool would perhaps be different due to cab/coupe preference.
