Targa 993, send a PM to ( mgianzero ) here on rennlist. Marc can help you understand what your targa top may need and how to fix it. I know he has rebuild a couple of them for some SoCal guys. He is a helpful Porsche 993 rennlister....

While we are discussing this, does anybody know of a great, knowledgeable 993 targa top mechanic for a 1996 targa located in the Ohio region, as well? Having read time and time again pcar.com's detailed information on this but being somewhat challenged when it comes to understanding this mechanism in is entirety, I am also in need of a professional.

Default 97 Targa Top Fixed Thank you MGianzero!

UPDATE: TARGE top has been completely overhauled by "mgianzero". Let me say, I had been to 2 different mechanics that claimed they can do the job, but dropped it for various reasons. Called everywhere and anywhere to get someone to help me with no avail. Marc is a master ! Marc is my :Targa993 GOD!, I cannot say enough great things about him. He knows the system in and out better than the original Porsche mechanics that built it. He finished the project ahead of schedule, vehicle was returned in perfect working order. The best part is, Marc said I can use the glass top and enjoy it with confidence.

Yes. I meant pcarworkshop.com. This site really is a valuable tool for targa owners. Still, unfortunately, my ability to comprehend what is being said leaves a little to be desired. Hence, a targa expert here in the Ohio region would be a great find!

Google Steinels Porsche in Twinsburg Ohio - they might be a shop that can do the repair.

Marc and/or Mike should consider a fly in service for targa owners "Pay a little extra, but open your roof with confidence!" I'll take a small cut if you end up using that slogan But seriously, that does seem like a specialist job.

Sean. My pleasure. I thank you for all your kind words. We pretty much replaced every worn part we could find on your top including all new cables. So yes, please use your top with confidence!

I'm so glad you are happy with the service. Spread the news if others need some guidance. Although I do this in my spare time, it keeps me on my toes.

Thanks Mike. As always, I appreciate your support.

I may redesign some targa parts to be more robust so targa owners don't have to deal with some of the weaker / failing aspects of these tops. Just another thing to put on my "to do" list once I'm done with my wife's list!

I tried this one - never got to "my" list, so I ended up in the barter system instead - "ok dear, that downstairs floor is equivalent to 2 weekends in the shop ... agreed?

Thanks Mike - I should try doing that more. But now she wants a new kitchen! That project will have to be handed off to someone else.

I think Tony Callas in Torrance is awesome. I would call Callas to see if they're confident in working on your Targa or at least recommend someone who is. Good luck.
