Suspension question
My 1995 with 135K on the odometer is both a daily driver and a track day toy. I am running Vonn level 2 coil overs. At my last track day I noticed the rear end feeling a bit loose. This was especially noticeable in uphill sweepers where the rear end felt like it was dancing a little bit. Also during weight transfer the tires were not gripping like they should. Any thoughts about swapping bushings or any other culprits I should be looking at? Additionally I plan to replace the wheel bearings this winter although I don't know if that has any thing to do with this issue.

Thanks guys! Last alignment was 18 months ago. Of course I did go off track earlier this season which might not have helped.
Tire pressures are 36 hot on Nitto NT-01s.

A loose rear can be as simple as KT out of whack, either too little or too much side to side difference, too much will tend to stabilize the rear but will scrub the tires more. Or it could be bushes, stiffer rear A-arm and KT and toe arms nail the rear end down pretty well.
36 hot is a tad higher than I use but should still be fine

Where are you, relative to what the car--now modified--is capable of? I'd work with an expert to install and set up a proper, comprehensive package. Local to you, Chris Cervelli comes to mind. His stock class times in Club Racing a 993 at Laguna years ago are times I can barely touch in my stupid modified car.......

I'll check Chris out. For alignments I have been going to the only place I can find near Boulder, CO that has the KT tool - 303 motorsports. Its a 40 min drive, so by Boulder standards, its not even that close.
In terms of my ability vs. the car's ability. I am on my third season of tracking this car, tracked a 1983 before that for a season, and then tracked an Audi for four seasons before that. The 993 is by far the most capable of those cars. Its still a leap ahead of my ability but I like to think I am closing in on it

My discovery a few months back - Cone shaped Rear Sway Bushings at 135,000 Miles - My thoughts are start here n make sure all the small bits are in order before you take the car in for an Allignment. Its an easy DIY. Then move onto Drop Links and Check them for wear - Usually the first to go! Alternatively you can let the Pro's help you along.

I recently replaced my axel boots. After reinstalling everything and then driving the car the back end was dancing around to the point that it was scary driving the car. I thought something had to come loose and put the car on a lift to check out the problem. To my surprise everything was tight, nothing loose or broken. To get the axels out I had to remove the control arm that connects at the bottom of the shock and on the other end with an eccentric bolt on the carrier. I had marked their position when I had removed them and noticed that the passenger side eccentric had moved about 2 marks (on the eccentric bolt washer) when I reinstalled and tighten the bold. After adjusting the eccentric to line up with the mark I had put, I drove the car and could not believe the difference or the fact that being off 2 marks could make the car handle so poorly. I will be getting an alignment to make sure all is OK. I would check first to see if anything is loose bent or broken if all looks good it’s probably your alignment.
